What can I use to remove silicone from my transom with out damaging the gel,I am replacing my exhaust tips and the new tips are a little smaller.

Beefy wood chisels work well. If it was any kind of good quality silicone you may have a hard time removing 100% of it without slightly scratching or marring the gelcoat inderneath it. You can sand/buff out minor marks in gel.

PARADOX

Try a new rasor blade and soapy water. Acetone will remove most silicones. If it's to hard.!? mild MEK with water or even Xylol deluted with water.
I had good luck removing all types of silicone and rubber with those three methods.
Carefull with MEK and Xylol. Tough chit.

Acetone or Laquer Thinner. Just put some on a rag and rub the silicone off with your finer.

home depot has this new product its green in color in the silicone isle comes in small tubes but works good losens it up so it peals off

I use Acetone to get off excess silicone.

There isn't much that will hurt gelcoat surface except wood chisels and razors blades. I have learn the hard way and spent hours try to repair the damage. You may also try 3 m product that is made from citrus . It works well..
