What are they doing about the Fiberglass Storage Tanks they had all of the gas stations on the street upgrade to years ago ?

I guess we will be hearing about that at some point!

From what I understand the tanks are coated with an epoxy, it's green in color and it's not effected by the Alcohol.

Last year Zul was putting steps in his boat and they built a glass tank and used it to coat the inside.

Being a solvent, I'm under the impression it will just clean the tank??? So if you had a lot of build-up over the years it will break free and settle to the bottom of your tank and be sucked into the fuel system.

I see a lot of race cars and drag boats who run Alcohol, they all have either plastic or aluminum tanks.

Aside from the gas tank issue, I know of lot of people who blew their stuff up last year... They ran fine for years and now with the alcohol they have detonated.. Both high performance and cruisers... One guy at our marina blew up a new engine, mercury told him to scratch...and another friend blew up one of his Yamaha's...we found nothing wrong with the engine, other than the hole in the block and piston...

Personally, I decided to step up a jet in the secondaries of my carbs for a little safety net...

This is the coating I used to seal my fiberglass tanks in my previous boat. I am told that many builders use it as well as the military. It seemed to have work well in my application.

Also remember, if your tanks are leaking you my never know. It could be leaking into the coring of the hull and you are cruising around in a gas soaked sponge!. I heard of a boat were the coring was soaked with gas from bow to stern.

2 boats burned...1 exploded last night on Lake Alatoona. They don't know the cause yet. Gots me wondering if maybe onna the boats fuel tanks started leaking.

Alcohol eats aluminum, plastic & rubber hoses .. race cars & drag boats that you speak of drain the tanks after use .... Poly tanks & teflon lined hoses are the only thing that wont Melt

Wahoo i believe the cure for the moment is Durakene ,and with the leaky tank you will know fuel filters will clog hourly, gell will bubble and you'll be pumping the gas out that ran down the stringers with the bilge pumps ... And the gas smell will be very noticeable

I did some research ad it seems as though you are correct about the aluminum, although it is minimal. http://www.nmma.org/lib/docs/nmma/gr...num Fuel Tanks

All fuel supply lines that are used in a boat must be coast guard approved USCG type A1, SAE J1527, as a part of that they are all gasoline and alcohol resistant and permiation proof. Am I missing something or do they just have it written on the hose and it still eats away at it?
