Was that a saitboat? Looked like another big cruiser to me. Simple right of way there i would guess. Tough to tell with 28 seconds of footage

LZH 04-16-2008 09:56 PM

All that open water out there and these idiots seem come together....unbelievable.

Perlmudder 04-16-2008 10:10 PM

"oh ****"

socalstone 04-16-2008 10:30 PM

Were these guys both on autopilot? asleep at the wheel? Drunk? or just plain mule-headed?
WTF!!!

BAJA WILL 04-17-2008 10:16 AM

Look at the end of the video, their was a guy on the little boat under the bow who crawls out of a hole.:D

BlackJack58 04-17-2008 10:18 AM

What a couple of dumb-azzes. If either had brains, they could have avoided this. Don't you love how the guy on the camera boat comes out and "gestures" at the smaller boat - like it was their fault....

Run_em_hard 04-17-2008 10:58 AM

According to Maryland law, the larger boat that is harder to manuver should be the stand-on boat. Too much water out there for something like this to happen.:angry-smiley-038:

Jeff P31 04-17-2008 08:26 PM

Just goes to show , all the money in the world can't buy common sence !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

Downtown42 04-18-2008 09:02 AM

WOW....the guy who got rammed had the right away, he was looking at the green bow light.

Are you sure that doesn't refer only to a larger vessel restricted in its ability to maneuver? Generally, such right-of-way laws are meant to apply to large ships and to such situations as deep draft vessels operating in shallow channels, not to pleasure craft of comparable size and maneuverability. I seriously doubt that you would get very far pressing a claim that the other guy should have given way because your boat is six inches longer or displaces 500 more pounds.

Mule headed, what a bunch of phucking morons:angry-smiley-038:. there was a guy in the smaller boat driving on top hes a moron for not steering to starboard even though it looked like he had the right of way BUT WHEN SEE ANOTHER BOAT HEADING IN TO A CRASH COARSE WITH YOU PHUCKEN MOVE. I hope the insurance co, stops coving them after this video. they were both going slow TOO! Its as bad as the coast gard hit that small boat on a great lake,me I ALWAYS GO SLOW when theres a lot of traffic around me I have seen a lot of chit in 35yrs of driving boats. art

320es 04-18-2008 05:52 PM

Why? That is just plain stupid.

jhiguy377 04-18-2008 08:11 PM

that'll buff right out..................

CAPTAIN CHUCK 04-20-2008 10:29 AM

That is correct.
If you are in a meeting situation, no matter the angle, the stand on vessel is the vessel to your starboard side. In open water vessels of the same type no matter what size shall obey the meeting and passing Rules of the Road set by the USCG.
There is a pecking order but I am not going to get into that...it is abbreviated ONRFSPS. Each letter stands for a different type of vessel.

And you are a tug captain, I think you know the deal. :cool-smiley-011:
