Damn! This is a number I don't want to know. I sure don't want my wife to see a total of how much is spent on gas for boating! Honey...you spent $$$$$ on gas for the boat last year....I should be able to spend that much on what I want!

I have averaged 1,000 gallons a year for the last 8 seasons. That means that my boating fuel expense will go up by roughly $1,000 dollars this year. That, in turn, means that my overall boat expenses will have gone up by about 5%.
My insurance rates have remained the same, or gone down slightly as my boat depreciates.
My marina raises its storage prices by about 5% every year.
The local marinas have raised their transient prices by roughly 50% over the last 5 years.
I bought my boat to enjoy the lifestyle it gives me. To spend an extra 5% doesn't bother me the tiniest amount.
I am going to lose precisely ZERO sleep over fuel costs this year. Everybody needs to stop getting their panties in a bunch over gas prices. The US has had unrealistically low gas prices for decades, and is still better than most of the world. If the fuel costs are too much for you, sell your boat and take up a hobby you can afford.
Cripes.

I propose the following
1) start your post here
2) edit YOUR original post as you go throuout the year, don't add a new post
3) type your engine hrs at that same time
this will show your cost per hour / efficiency and be a way to compare steps vs. claissic 24 deadrises as well as single vs. twin applications, etc.
cost of fuel is relative to your salary, your other boating expenses, your obsession of the hobby. etc
my wife cares. i do not.
I have twin blower motors that run on 92, but it is still cheaper than marina prices as I i trailer mine,
I have free storage ( my pole barn is in my mortgage)
so it all cancels out ( that's what i told her anyway)
I did just buy a super duty dieseldaily driver to pull the dang thing and it is getting 12.5mpg empty at $4.29/gal , but pay to play is what I say
it is worth every penny

Shut the pump down 3 times last weekend, $99 x 3 (@ $3.65) a gallon = $297. I must be getting off easy since I 'only' hold 100 gallons.
I need to have 'you gotta Pay to Play' tattooed on my forehead or something, it seems like that is all I ever say when it comes to the boat!
81 gallons - 818 hours

Blue Martini Ft. Lauderdale is the biggest retailer in the U.S. Guess who helped them achieve that .
That is absolutely the best shot on earth. After you convince a chick that hates tequila to try a shot it's all over. Liquid thong remover........
Now I'm in the mood to go drinking tonight!
