DollaBill 04-23-2008 02:16 PM

Phkn close enough dammit :)

WMF 04-23-2008 07:16 PM

Hey Frank, she has not responded to you yet??, This has to make you mad. If you need any asstiance please let me know.

Donzi Corleone 04-23-2008 07:32 PM

Never even called to apologize and or offer me a refund. I guess she feels that would be admitting guilt.Well I'll see where this goes. I'm not looking to give up the boat or change anything, I would just like her to be accountable for a poor survey done by a SAMS accredited surveyor. By me not saying or doing anything about it just lets her to continue to practice without the fear of repercussions from customers.

fabin61 04-23-2008 07:35 PM

What was the surveyor negligent on?

Alot of things, Frank bought my old Donzi 26ZX from me back in December. She missed some major items, like the drive, and trailer, I will Frank explain more.

DareDevil 04-23-2008 08:04 PM

Hey ,i had a survey done on my boat befor i got it.
The survey said everything is in overall satisfactory condition.
Well 60 K later it is.
The whole damn boat was trash.
But also i had friends tell me that and did not listen.
So i got to say F*** all Surveyers ,because they all lie.
The whant the money not the costumer to know what he will get !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And i dont care what it is.:angry-smiley-038:

Donzi Corleone 04-23-2008 08:12 PM

1. Engine hrs. surveyed 172 Actual using a Merc.scanner 355.6
2. XR drive not a XR but a re-badged Bravo 1..A decal was placed over the Bravo 1 badge.
3. The trailer is 1000 lbs overweight. A binding tire and flat springs were visable. I had to drag that trailer 1200 miles home.
I'm not looking to make a buck, I just want her to take responsability for a poor and negligent survey. She won't even talk or e-mail me about these issues. All I wanted was a refund. She did admit this was a NIGHTMARE when she thought we were talking about a third party. When she found out this was her survey she slipped out of sight. I'm doing this for to let her know she has to be accountable to her customers for negligence. They can't just use disclaimers and waivers to make them bullit proof. I asked her just what did you do for 4hrs. you told me it took to do the survey on a 26ft single engine Donzi.

WMF 04-23-2008 08:28 PM

That is kinda the way I feel about my Apache survey Dardevil, I had it surveyed before I bought the boat and the surveyer missed alot, but I knew that going in, all I really cared about was the hull. In Franks case it is different and these things should have been picked up. I bought the boat used 2 years ago and never had a survey done, I trusted the dealer I bought it from, I guess I was mislead by the dealer:(

DareDevil 04-23-2008 08:54 PM

The best thing to do ,i found is to take the survey yourself.
If there is just one thing questinable ,or who ever buys something is not sure .Maybe take a friend who knows a little more.
But NEVER EVER trust a dealer or survey company, i know it sounds very sad but its a FACT.
You see i lived in germany all my life untill 2004 and i was always thinking USA where i was born thats where its OK.
F*** i lost again. And its very very sad.
In germany we would F*** people like that up ,over here the law tells you not to ,but at the same time it tells people like that keep on screwing others over.
I am not mad because of money u or i spend on a survey because i probably would of both the boat anyways but come on be HONEST in life.
I also asked a laywer after i got screwed ,he told me there is nothing i can do because it states in every survey as good as of the knolege as known. (WHAT THE HELL THAT MEANS?)
That what ever they do is OK.
And thats the LAW ????!!!!!! No wonder where wer we at !!!
But what ever LETS ENJOY LIFE AND BOATING.:D:D

PJDiesel 04-23-2008 08:56 PM

Might make sense just to work on finding out who her E&O carrier is. They may be willing to settle out with you based on the major discrepancies. Other than that, you will need a lawyer. (Thats assuming she has insurance).

cuda 04-23-2008 09:28 PM

If that's the way she does surveys, she should be outed. I doubt you have much recourse against her, but if you're like me, it would be a matter of principal! Good luck.

Sydwayz 04-24-2008 09:15 AM

Is this the same chic that said that Hot Duck's Apache was full of water when she did not know how to properly assess a Kevlar hull?

Love Machine 04-24-2008 02:36 PM

If she's listed on the Boat US website you could warn them too. Maybe they will even mediate.

Sorry to hear about your trouble.

That all it is Cuda,PRINCIPAL!!!!!!! I'll try my best to get SAMS involved and consider revoking her certificate. It's not about the money and I do like the boat. It's the fact she botched it and won't even talk with me. All I wanted was a refund on the survey and I would let it go.

fabin61 04-24-2008 07:26 PM

I just got my survey back and it was way more than I expected. Charlie Miller up in Erie, PA. Well worth the $15 a foot he charged me.

The report was 13 pages long and than he added over 10 detailed pictures of items that neede attention.

He attached a list of things needing to be done immediately,
and a list of things to do when it's raining out.

I was very pleased.

WILDMAN 04-25-2008 01:13 AM

I think the biggest problem with this survey, is the word "SHE"

She should refund you the money and be done with it. The last thing you want is to be burned at the stake on here.............................................. ..............:)

That's not true. There are many women out there that know more than some men about boats. And there are many men who know a lot that still learn new things all the time.

Spread the word on this surveyor!! DO NOT USE THIS SURVEYOR!

Sulfur1 04-27-2008 10:27 AM

Donzi Corleone,

I know what your going through. I bought a boat from a guy out of New Jersey. Survey came back with the usual little things, except of course the cracked heads and that the oil pans were rotted out and ready to let go. I even contacted a lawyer on here and he just said theres nothing we can really do, maybe send a nastygram to the surveyor and the seller and ask for some type of help with the financial end of the repairs. But besides that...nothing. I did call the seller and told him about the problems, he ofcourse played dumb. This was back in Aug. 07, I just got the engines to a reputable engine shop in the area. Then there off to a marine mechanic to replace the marine portions of the engines, and drop them back into the boat. I probably won't be out on the water until next season...maybe?

pachanga 04-27-2008 11:32 AM

I don't know if this applies. From my understanding a boat surveyor tests the strcture of the boat, not the mechanical parts of the boat. I was told if you want a mechanical survey take it to a boat mechanic and pay for all the pertinate tests and inspections.

Donzi Corleone 04-29-2008 06:51 PM

No, they do mechanical making sure all swithes and gauges do what there suppose to do along with the appearence of EVERYTHING. ECM hours ck is a standard very basic ck. I was not asking to tear the drive and internal parts down. My issues are ligite and should have been caught by a surveyor.
