I have torn up more then my share of engines but I have been known to run on ragid edge so when they tear up I am not surprised. Most, if not all of my damage is the cause of detonation.

I'd rather have 750 hp coming from a warm engine with mild boost that 750 hp coming from a hot N/A engine. You'll have less issues. The bottom end will see the same amount of beating but the vcalve train will have to be more radical. You'll also have to deal with higher idle speeds, fouling, etc. The Achille's heel with blowers is fuel system problems that lean you out and smoke the engine.

Hp 500 efi, Vortech, 5 lbs. boost, 270hrs. No problems.

630 isn't too bad if you've got all premium parts in the valve train. 700 is radical. Plus, that 700 is going to come with a ramp profile that mashes those valves open, not a nice gradual one like on a hydraulic roller.
9.5 is more compression than you might find to be ideal. It's still workable. I'd look long and hard at an intercooler. Unless you are running close to 600 cid, the 10-71 is overkill. It's going to run so slow at idle you'll have fuel puddling issues. Aluminum heads on your motors now? |
