Bravo Transom Template

I have posted this in the wanted section & also the Drive section with out much response so I thought I would try it here...

I am looking for a Bravo transom template (jig fixture) for the transom cutout... I would love to be able to either rent , or borrow one.... However if I have to buy one I will , but ifso I would love to find one from someone here on the board that has one they are willing to get rid of for a reasonable price....
Thanks in advance , Scott

Anybody ???

Chris Sunkin 04-29-2008 09:34 AM

If I recall, doesn't Cobra rent them? Or was it BAM? I'd call those guys. Maybe Doller too.

littledcsrodshop 04-29-2008 09:45 AM

I talked to randy at cobra & not trying to blast them but to be honest I could buy one for not much more than he wanted to rent it... I will check with Bam & Doller... Thanks

FWIW- you can make your own.

Take a transom gasket and use it as a stencil to make a duplicate out of masonite. Then buy a top-bearing router bit or if your router has the option, use the template guide, Screw the template to the transom (or use 3m double-sided foam tape) and do the cutout. If you have a decent sized plunge router and a set of helping hands, you can do the stud holes too.

Just talked with Doller & they said they didn't have any just the paper templates... I have a msg. in at Bam.

I thought about using a paper template to make one & I may have to do that if I can't find one.

What is the cost for a new one from Mercury?

littledcsrodshop 04-29-2008 01:51 PM

Don't quote me exactly on this but last time I checked I believe it was somewhere in the 260-290 ballpark...

I got your email, had a crazy day today.

PN is 43693A2, and yes it is $268.42 on our site.

I'm embarrassed to say it has been so long since we cut a transom that we no longer have one, otherwise I would be happy to rent it for a nominal fee.

Hey Marc , Just checked it out on your website... Quick question for you : Do you have 1 in stock ??

c_deezy 05-01-2008 11:24 AM

For 270 I think I would just buy it, then you could always loan/rent it out. However I think if it were me I would do it like Autozone does, rent it at full price, then when you get the jig back refund the money except for a small sum, like 50 bucks or something for borrowing it. Seems fair for both parties.

littledcsrodshop 05-01-2008 11:36 AM

I agree & I believe thats what I am going to do. I have an email in to Marc @ bam seeing if they have one in stock.

Scott,
I missed your thread asking for the jig. I have one and you are welcome to it. If I would have known, you could have got it when you picked up your block. Sorry I didn't see it sooner. Anytime you need something like that, let me know.
Eddie

littledcsrodshop 05-08-2008 12:25 AM

Hey Eddie ,
I appreciate the offer & yeah that would have worked out good but oh well , I guess a man can never have too many tools...
I hope all is well with you & your family along everything else in the western end of the state.... The motor finally came togather nicely & is pretty much ready to go in the hole... Now if I could just get the time to finish getting the boat ready for it.

I'm getting ready to cut my transom for Bravo's. I can use the paper template if you are still willing to part with it. I did the same thing when I cut for the 3A SSM's on the last boat, traced a paper template on Luan, made the cuts then resined the template so it wouldn't warp or splinter.

If you can send it, I appreciate it:
