I'm running Ilmors, 7-10s. they claim better fuel mileage than Mercurys. I'm afraid to check mine. Anybody got any ideas comparing apples to apples?

Im running a single 710 in a 28ft boat.
Gets between 2.2 & 2.6 MPG. Pretty spectacular in my biased opinion. Both the mileage, and the mill. Uncle Dave |
1996 32 Sunsation with 500s running a poker run 1.47 mpg.
2007 32 Sunsation with 496 Mags running a poker run 1.53 mpg. |

Time to think about your post again, sport. |

Good Morning,
Isn't there a base formula for determining fuel burn something like (Horsepower x .55 lbs fuel) / weight of 1 gallon of fuel = gallons per hour. Now if I have that part correct (highly unlikely) how would you deduct for hull/outdrive inefficiencies? Is there a method where you could use calculated prop slip? Hmmmmm the fun factor of this falls somewhere between a trip to the Dentist and Christmas shopping at the mall. Thanks, Rick |
Hi!
Changing from 2 x Merc 2.5 EFI SS consuming 1,25 mpg (90 litre per hour at 40 knots) to a single Vrod 350 Sci consuming 4,5 mpg (43 litre per hour at 45 knots). A new world for next year. And you pay 8,55 USD per gallon in Norway. Cheeers, Toffen Cheeers, Toffen |
