I sold my boat and am now also shopping for a new one. Out of all the boats I have researched a very small percentage of sellers are getting out of boating. I don't think gas prices are going to completely redefine the boating industry, just make some minor adjustments. As far as the ecomomys effect on the industry... I think the DNA of a boater is successfull, strong and incharge of their own destiny, and of course passionate about boating. Does this sound like you? I also don't think this economy will redefine the industry.

Expect to pay $5.00/gal by the end of the summer. Go fast boats are a bad investment no matter how you slice it or when you buy it. Its not real estate, you're not Jim Cramer. Forget about the "market", when you can get the best price, etc. Get the best boat you can for what you can afford and have a blast. Life is short and if you wait too long for your ship to come in, your pier may collapse.

Oops, did I say that.......

Here, Here...... I agree with RJ and Ona Mission. I may not go as often or as far, but the boat is here to stay. Even tossing around the idea of moving up.

Powerquests were a good value 5 years ago, even better today. Lost of cabin room great helm and same or better speed than the Formulas and Baja's. The 38 with blue motors are fantastic.

what realy sucks is when you owe nothing on a boat and just had got some gremlins out over the winter and its ready for the summer season of poker runs or whatever and 1/2 full of premium and you break your neck and back from trimming trees no less and told if you hit a wave wrong you could be parallized and you want to sell cuz its killing you to see it sit so you price it to move and no interest !! this sucks !

The point about someone being who is desperate to sell not doing the maintenence is an excellent one. This is very true. The good deals are out there but the fire sale deals should set off red flags. I say look for a good deal on a clean nice boat that is well cared for. rebuilding a pair of 525's will erase any thoughts of how low a boat price may have seemed.

No fire sale here. Pay for what you get. My freshwater 42 Ex is still available for your pleasures.
