Default Baby's got a brand new dress.

Here's a look at part of the wrap we're putting on the boat for the run. Hopefully, this will help keep the authorities from slowing things down...

Good call Bob. Wait for your window, don't rush that part. Keep everything simple, you'll do great. Get lots of pick for me to see at your dock.

Thanks Mark. The winds just don't want to let up. I crossed to Key West from Marco on Friday and spent the Memorial Day weekend down there even tho we knew it was a no go just yet to Cancun. I came back to Marco today in 15 knots and it was not pleasant.
The forecast for the SW Gulf for the rest of the week is not great.
As much as I want to get this done and behind me, we will hold off until we get at least a 2 day window to get over & back. I would not want to have to leave my boat there unattended.

Good Luck with your crossing, But you may never get sea's less then 3-4 Ft. Leon Woolard works for me now and he was on the boat with Reggie for that run and said the only calm place was off the coast of Cuba. Make sure you have extra fuel as they ran out just as they pulled into the harbor after refueling from drums on the way and that was on the 48' with large tanks

Thanks. I would be happy with 3 - 4 with some 5's thrown in and that should be doable. We need to watch the weather on both sides of the Gulf. We need a 2 - 3 day window tho and were just not getting it. We will continue to be patient and we will get our opportunity and we will get this done. Yes, fuel consumption is our biggest concern. If we are plowing water and not running on top we could be in trouble.

I have copied and attached NOAA forecast for SW Gulf. It actually looks worse than this week. Remnants of Tropical storm Alma.

I have spoken to Eric Colby a couple of times who was also on Reggie's boat and wrote the article for Boating Magazine. He has been helpful. They really took a pounding. If I remember correctly they finished at Isle Mejueras (sp?) with the fuel issue.
If I can help it, I want not to pound the crap out of my new boat, myself or my crew.
Usually by now the Gulf is starting to lay down some but seems not this year yet..... but it will !! ( I hope ! )
