NO SOUP ONE YEAR and no boating for 3 months :o)
|
Take out the ignition and take it to Westmarine or a local shop that sells electrical parts, match it up, buy two and replace. I did it in a Baja and no big deal.
|
Or, just tow it to a locksmith shop. The locksmith is only costly when you have them come to you. My father is a locksmith and this would cost about $20 and take less than 10 minutes if it was brought to him.

I had to hot wire my first boat when lost key. Took like 2 min. Then got pulled over by lakepatrol. Should have seen his face when I told him I could not shut it off. Sure glad I had ID and reg. Could have been a long day.

If you just pull the lock cylinder, you can bring just that to the locksmith. A good locksmith can look at the tumblers and make you a key by eye. Had to to that on a boat I bought where the prev owner lost the cabin key. Took the locksmith 10 minutes and cost me $20.

Rule #1: Never, never remove the keys from the boat!!!!!:cool-smiley-011::D
That one rule has worked for the last 26 years for me. If someone wants to steal it, not having the keys won't deter them!!! |
