Salesmanship..........Hi Terry..thats correct,the miserable mile
is from Little Shell Island to Pine Island, near St. James City.
88Fount.......Where are you ? My house is on Lake Finnisterre
and I go out at Tarpon Point. I'm about 15-18 mins to river.
If you look in S.W. area...don't go behind the lock......can be a
major PIA.

Our new place is about 1/2 way down Kiaboa Canal off the Gloriana Canal that dumps out at Tarpon Point.

I was there in February. There are a gazillion homes for sale and that area doesn't look like it will rebound anytime soon. I thought the area was kind of wierd in that you'd have a $1.5mm canal home right next to a home without water access that is run down with foot tall grass and weeds and might fetch $400m.
My wifes take on the whole area was that it was a much older population than was apparent on the east coast. Appears to be much more laid back and sleepy.
The boating looks like it could be awesome though.
Like anyplace else, positives and negatives

Formula1.........I thought it was funny too. Nobody else did.
My neighbors hate me, because everything I own makes loud
noise. When I have the boat down, they applaude on the other
side of the lake when I shut it off.

I recently sold my Formula 292 and everytime I started that boat I thought my neighbors hated me...especially coming down the canal at midnight!
But, the day the guy cam and picked it up, 3 of my snowbird neighbors came over and said how they are going to miss that boat...especially when I started it up! (They were totally serious too!)

How is the area in NW Cape coral?

Limited access to the north end of Pine Island sound and Matalacha Pass through a canal called the North Spreader, it exits at the Matlacha bridge. The channel going in is narrow and shallow, and shifts. Right now there is a lift that is limited to 12,000lbs (I think) that will be coming out soon. There is a breach in the canal near the lift, so right now everyone goes around the lift anyway. It has been a source of controversy for quite some time. Property values should increase up there when the lift is out, since it will give somewhat unlimited access to the North Spreader canal chain.
