HP 500 Question

2000 HP 500 carb motors. Valve springs were done at 200 hours. The motors currently have approx just under 400 hours. I was toying with the idea of a refresh over this past winter and was told to wait another season. Is there a concern with doing a poker run, running at around 4000rpm's for an extended time and beating the motors this season or should I take it easy season?

I had asked a similiar question. The answer I got was after the initial valve spring/valve job, these motors are good to go for quite awhile, afterwards...assuming proper maintenence etc. Good luck!

What is "quite a while" should you take it easy at 400 hours? or it doesnt matter.

I don't know. The boat I'm getting ready to purchase is a 1999 Baja 272 w/HP500. I don't know exactly how many hours it has (it was used, probably not low hours), but it was freshened about 100 hours ago and I got the impression to go for it! :cool-smiley-011:
