Default Paging Audiofn

Audiofn,
I know you posted in a thread earlier about the one wire alternator. You mentioned Boat US as a source. Do they have new alternators? All I could find on the site for the one wire was rebuilt stuff. Is this the only way you can get them? If so, is their stuff top cabin? I want reliability.

Ouch! . Jim I can't speak for Marine stuff but whenever I needed an alternator for say my Cuda or Challenger, I found that the rebuilt ones, as long as they were from a reputable place, were just as good as the new ones and sometimes better because they paid more attention to the windings and that.

Les

P.S. Hows the boat coming along? Hey Caleb it's starting to warm up. Getting to be Bar-B- que time.

Ya I think the alternators I got were new. I was real happy with them and so far they have worked very well.

Audiofn - do you remember what brand it was?
Are they Delco-Remy?
I just want to make sure I get the right ones the first time.

The only one I could find is this one.
It's a reman.
Did yours look like this?

Caleb - I may not have as big a cooler as you do but I'll bet I can go through more fuel than you

Les - I wouldn't have a problem with rebuilt if done by a reputable business. I just don't know any anymore. Just tryin to find out if this is one of those places. If I can buy new, I would rather do that.

Boat is coming along well. Should be ready for opening day.

Jim that looks exactly like the one I got. When I got it it was covered in some sticky crap that I did not like. Good thing is break clean took it right off then I painted it with the Merc black so that it looked more stock. After you start the engines you have to give them a rev to get them to start charging. I think it is about 1500RPMs to activate the field. No big deal.
