boat covers

I need a new boat cover for my 29 Powerquest,I keep the boat in my side yard.I take the cover off to move boat, only need protection from the sun and rain.Has anyone used the outdura covers sold by iboats.com?

JB4Boyne 06-06-2008 08:25 AM

What the he!! kind of name is Blue Oval? LOL Do you think you are a Ford Dealer or something?
Your 1st post and your asking for help already. You Powerquest guys. lol
Why don't you put up a building in your side yard so your buddies can store their boats next to yours and you will save the money on the cover.
Ask Bill, he had a new cover made from some lady there in Boyne last summer and it came out great.

Freeryd 06-06-2008 08:54 AM

YUP- figures as much...the only reason you come outta hiding is for help. SHEESH! Typical ford guy. And Blue Oval, isn't that something to do with pregnacy tests? BAH!
Ok anyways, are you looking for just a cockpit cover, or a full cover? If it's just a cockpit cover the same lady that made mine might make you one. I love mine! Not sure what all she does, or if she even makes them anymore. She was trying to get outta the business. Call me later and i'll give you her info.
BTW- why don't you loan me one of them new ford trucks to demo for the weekend?!?! I'm heading to Maryland tomorrow to tow home a new 25 Trophy and really don't wanna put the miles on a GOOD truck! LOL

JB4Boyne 06-06-2008 09:01 AM

I never thought about the pregnancy thing. Twins again Bob?

Blue Oval 06-06-2008 09:18 AM

boat cover

It would be a medical mystery if my wife was going to have twins again.I'am only a Ford collector I know nothing of this dealership you talk of.I want to replace that old cavas cover I have covering the boat.My bride did't do a good job of keeping the water off, it is all ripped up and sewed together.

Freeryd 06-06-2008 09:22 AM

Poor Bob, he'll sign back in here and see all these new replys to his post, think he's got a serious answer, maybe some new friends, and just overall be pleased with "such a fine and helpful website" and low and behold...it's US! He shoulda been a little more sneaky with the name. I guess to help his cause, since he wasn't kind enough to post an actual LINK to a site, i'll do it for him.

boat cover

If Heid's truck was not already hooked up to the boat, you could take that,I would hate to to have to drive out of state with the wrecker just to tow that Chevy home. What up with the boat, getting into fishing are you.By the way,if I used my letters of my name like John it would be RAM,I don't think my dad thought that thru.

czy40p 06-06-2008 11:04 AM

Not sure the brand but I bought a full cover from them in 2001 and I am still using, held up good in the yard. I rarely trailer with it on.

Bob, It was good to meet you last weekend. I know your a boater, for the last couple years, we saw that Awsome PQ out there a lot.
We're planning on puttin in Sat morning & spending the night in Charleviox. Duckin around the rain.

I just purchased, (not recieved yet) a cover from Ameri-brands. The cover is made by Carver. I bought the 8oz polyester for $365 for our 34 Vyper.
Ameri-Brands_Enticer Covers Enticer $301

Boat cover direct.com had the same cover from Carver for $535.
boatcoversdirect.com/Enticer Enticer $441

It seemed like a good price to me. Anything to slow the weekly boat washings. Not to mention get it out of the Sun. Although My nieghbor just built a new barn, & has room for my new ride:drink:

BTW: BLUE OVAL ROCKS

shw-n-go h20 06-06-2008 11:41 AM

My dad bought a full winter cover with stretchy sides for his 34 powerquest, it did a great job as long as you dont tow with it. we bought it out of overtons, it was pretty cheap too. he has had it for 4 years and it's still hold strong

Freeryd 06-06-2008 11:50 AM

ya see Bob, i told you before to long someone would come along with actual useful information for ya! Sorry you didn't find my link helpful. lol

JB4Boyne 06-06-2008 03:13 PM

Bob,
Why don't you order the one from Ameri-Brands in yellow. I would like to see what it looks like.

CasperToo 06-06-2008 03:28 PM

I Boutght one of those covers about 3 years ago for my Powerplay 230 Conquest. I didn't think that it was the prettiest thing in the world but it worked great. It came from iboats with plenty of loops sewn in it for fastening down and was 100% waterproof at all times.
I think I got a sale price at the time of around $270

Good luck with your decision.

Freeryd 06-06-2008 04:36 PM

Get one in blue...i wanna see what it looks like with my boat! ;)

Jeez...another cover!? Did mine fit? How many have you got now??

I bought this one from Iboats. Great cover for the money. But then again, mine stays indoors 24/7 when not in use so it only needs to keep the dust and occassional bird droppings off the bow. Don't rely on them for sizing advice though. I think this 39' cover would fit an F4.

Blue Oval 06-07-2008 08:15 AM

hey Shawn, when you get your cover let me know how it works,I called the company you bought yours from, they make it sound good.

JB4Boyne 06-07-2008 09:42 AM

Bob,
We still think you should take down your garage and build a great big one. You are always complaining about your neighbors anyway, so a big one would block them. Your only a block from the launch so Bill, Shawn, Rodger and myself would give you the privilege of having our boats next to yours. Heck, we will even let you wax them when you get bored....

I need a nice cover because I can't afford to buy gas this year.

I bought a cover from AmeriBrands, it was the best price I could find and it actually fits extremely well. I am very impressed with the cover and would go that route again!
Good Luck

Shawn D 06-07-2008 10:38 AM

I like JB's garage Idea. :ernaehrung004:

A buddy of mine, Ed, bought a cover too, from Ameri-Brand. Boat covers direct sent him a Color patch for red and light grey. He gave 'em to me & I'll drop them off early next week to the dealership. BTW, stop into Boyne Country Party Store, Ed just bought it.

Macklin,
between the full enclosure, 2 Aqualon cockpits, and now a full cover. I think i have more fabric than a rag boat.

What happen to JB's other Thread?? I was getting excited. You'ld understand if you saw my tow rig. The plow truck. That thread almost pulled out a classic pic of nice boat - Nasty truck. Should have be looking more respectable by summers end.

I'm all for the garage idea!!! I'll even sit on the curb and drink beer while you guys build it!
Shawn- JB's been bad lately i think...all his threads go "poof"! haha

JB4Boyne 06-07-2008 06:27 PM

If Bob puts a refrigerator full of beer in our new garage I'm sure we will all chip in and help him drink it.:ernaehrung004::drink:

JB4Boyne 06-07-2008 06:45 PM

Shawn,
Bob had that free truck thing coming to him. I thought I made it so unbelievable, but I guess not. He really had people calling thinking it was the real deal. LOL

Let me tell you a little story about our Buddy Bobby (yes, he prefers Bobby)
Last year at BoyneThunder he took a gas nozzle with about 8' of hose attached and stuck it in the gas tank of my pickup with the hose hanging out the back. It was parked where everyone there had to walk past it. The police seen it and got on the radio and call the dispatcher and had them call all the gas stations in the area because they thought I drove off.
It was 2 days before I seen it. :hitfan:

Shawn D 06-08-2008 09:17 PM

That's hilarious. LMFAO. We met up with Bob on Sat, He had mentioned the gas nozzle. Nice work, on both sides. I guess his phones had a Work Out on Friday.

wrinkleface 06-09-2008 07:57 AM

Bob, welcome 2 OSO! Post away Dude!! Hope 2 C ya on the lake!! Tracy:drink:

45sonic 06-09-2008 11:31 AM

www.angolacanvascompany.com

They made a full cover for our Sonic. Light weight and fits great. No more cleaning the boat before we go out. Stays dry and clean.

Blue Oval 06-09-2008 01:27 PM

Boating season is to short in N. Michigan,I will not take time away from my boating to build a garage.Thats why I was looking for the cover. It's been very hard trying to get all these trucks ready for delivery, I don't think I will have time to get out this week.If Bill gets back in time maybe he can help me prep some of them.

Blue Oval,
The boat cover came in a Friday. I put it on Sunday night. We stayed at East Jordan Saturday night for the fireworks. Met up w JB & Wrink on the docks afterwards.

It doesn't fit as good as I dreamed of, but not bad. a little long (inches) and could use a little more fabric for windshield area. Notice how it doesn't come down the sides as far in the middle. Don't get me wrong it was only $365. It's not a custom fitted cover and it's gonna work great. I was amazed how heavy the whole thing weighed. Give me a call when you want to check it out.

Blue Oval 06-24-2008 07:05 AM

I will give you a call at work.
Thanks, Bob

Much less costly than custom. I paid $1300 for mine on a 26 Scarab Sport.

Blue Oval 07-09-2008 08:34 AM

I got the top today,to bad I don't have the boat.I'll post a picture once I get up and running again.

What can I spray on my old canvass to repel water?
What works and is priced right?
Lets hear what the OSO family has tried that works?

45SS 08-27-2008 08:59 PM

Go to the sporting goods store and buy the repelant for canvus tents. Much cheaper since it does not have the word (marine in it.) I ve done it and it works great.

Blue Oval 09-03-2008 07:13 AM

Great idea if someone in your household can sew.I had to buy one.
