What if you don't have a roof over your lift like most people?

No, but I do put it on when I'm gone for extended periods.

It does require some ovehead support, but not necessarily a roof.

It pretty much is enclosed! The same cover w/o the track system would be around $2k, so you do pay a premium for the track system and install. The good news is that it does work; saves weathering on the boat and a ton of time cleaning, especially the 48 . Considering the price of the boat, it's well worth it. Below is a pic of a different system that apparently doesn't hold as well in the wind.

cool looking and if a person that was not able to handle a regular cover it would be beneficial, I know mine is heavy and good luck putting it on in the wind, kite

is it attached to the lift or dock?....if it is not attached to the lift does it actually touch the boat or does it just get close? and have you noticed any paint blemishes from the boat floating up and down from wave action and the cover remaining stationary with the dock? or the sea ray especially does it rub as the boat moves?

The cover is attached to the overhead support and has a drawstring around the bottom to draw it tight to the boat. There are shcok cords between the top of the cover and the track to minimize vertical movement, (a differing feature between this and the other silde over covers) but the cover does "rub" somewhat on the boat. On the Sea Ray it rubs on the bow rails so tht's not much of a conern. on the Cig it is right at the corner of the deck. The boat is all white gelocoat there, so I'm keeping an eye on it to see how it handles it. The Cig cover's movement is due to wave primarily action and the cover is off during the weekends when that is most prevalent. I may experiment with the addition of some sand bags at the base of the cover to see if that helps minimize the movement; the cover is already set up to add them.
