small Wellcraft CC questions
Does anyone here have any experience with the Wellcraft 190 ccf's that were made starting in the mid 90's?
I know this isn't the best place to ask about a small cc, but its the only boating site i trust. I'm looking at one that appears to be in good condition for its age (1996) and it doesn't have an engine on it. Therefore, i'm not gonna be able to test drive it.
Looking for info on how they ride and handle choppy water, how well they were made, what your experiences were with them etc.
I plan on using it to drag my son around on the tube and as a boat to just hop on and head to local spots around the river.
Thanks a lot!!

I sold them in the 90's. Wellcraft put together an inexpensive boat motor and trailer package using the hull, a 112 hp JOHNSON o/b ( which sucked) and a trailer. I cant remember the out the door cost but aside from the engine it wasnt a bad deal. They had a Yamaha 130 hp upgrade but it really raised the price of the package.
The nicest feature of that hull was that the center consol is molded into the boat...not screwed in. Look for stress cracks in this area to see if it held up well. Also, as with any used boat, get in it and see how the stringers held up and check the area where the stringers meet the transom.
Good luck !

Thanks CMC. Do you know how they handled compared to other cc's in that size range?
If I end up buying it, I plan to put a 135-150hp ob on it.

They handle pretty much the same as most 19 CC's. The larger engine will help as I remember they were a little slow to plane with the 112 hp. I'm not sure if the max was 130 hp or 150 hp.
