Lets see your stereo system..

I got to thinkin that I hadnt seen any threads about stereos.. Seems no on besides me parks the boat and listens to music and swims:party-smiley-004:

:drink:

Mine is coming along smashingly. Im considering competing in the stereo drags at LOTO if they have them.. I wont have any pics until monday night when everything comes back from my dads wood shop.

Lets see what you've got, if you dont have pics, give a brief explanation of what your system has!

:drink:

12 Alpine 6x9's
2- DA 2000w amps (6x9 amps)
1- Memphis Audio 1250.1 amp (class d sub amp)
1- kicker 250.2 (tweeter amp)
2- Kicker L7 12"s
6- Polk Audio tweeters
6- 6v Trojan Golfcart batteries
1/0- tinned welding cable from batteries to dist.blocks to 4ga.

Should sound good.. just not sure for how long :grinser010:

Holy sh.it, I'm outgunned here, but just updated it a few weeks ago so here goes:

Had:
Pioneer head unit from 1998
2 hitachi marine 6x9's that looked like crap and sounded worse

Has:
Sony 52x4 XPLOD head unit w/ aux input
2 infiniti Reference 6x9s
XM satellite radio, mounted on dash (here's a pic of where the XM is mounted...)
http://a565.ac-images.myspacecdn.com...d82fde3414.jpg

It sounds pretty decent considering the garbage it had before... The 6x9's are clear and hit pretty hard. All in all, happy for a few hundred dollar investment.

If I dont get the stereo done, what is the wacky, waving, inflatable flailing arm, flailing tubeman supposed to dance too?

If he puts it in the water it will sink with all that crap on it. Either that or all the magnets in those speakers will make the boat stick to the trailer and not let go.:evilb:

I just bought 2 JL W3's, 4 7.7 seperates a kenwood headunit that will take a USB and big power with 2 more optima blue tops. All going in the Skater. Subs in the front under the dash. Has all that air space to hit in.

RebarBox 06-26-2008 07:55 PM

I have a stereo, but someone needs to tell me how to turn it on.:readinghelp::eek:

I have 8 15" subs in my cat, but I would say there is nothing in the country that can touch matts bluewater.

jonyb 06-27-2008 12:21 AM

Still gotta finish a flush panel under the helm....

Kenwood marine head unit with remote on the helm and transom, 2 Excelon 4-channel amps, 1 Excelon mono amp, 4 Wet Sounds 6.5's, 6 Kenwood 6.5's, 4 JL 10W0-8's, a Wet Sounds line driver/pre-amp, 2 Stinger SP1500D batteries that'll go all night long and a few more days. Kenwood isn't normally my first choice, but the 2 4-channels and head unit were already in the boat.

No pics but just put a Sony X-Plod head unit in with a 200W Sony amp. 4 Pioneer 6x9 5-ways and a 10" Infinity sub. The water moves around the back when the sub is working hard. Had to add a second battery as a long afternoon of jams can run one down. Some of you guys have some serious tunes.

Panther 06-27-2008 08:45 AM

Damn, you guys like your stereos!!

Mine is a small system...pretty basic stuff...

1. Sony Head Unit
2. (4) MTX TM6502 speakers
3. (1) MTX TM1204 Sub
4. (2) 6 1/2 Sony marine speakers (cabin)
5. (1) MTX TM1805 amp running the 4 cockpit speakers and sub.

Special thanks to Ron Poli on the MTX equipment.

I agree, Matt's Bluewater is SICK!!!! That is the only stereo, especailly in a free air enivoroment, that actually hurt my ears when he turned it up. No distortion and you can hear it clearly from miles away on the water.

That's small? I'd say that is a pretty thumping system.

I just put a "system" in my boat...here's what it's got:

Kenwood Head Unit, Sony amp powering four sony 6 1/2's in the cockpit and two more 6 1/2's in the cabin. Works pretty well in a small boat.

Might put a tube/woofer somewhere in the boat if I can find a good spot. Anyone ever done that on a 29 Fountain?

KNOT-RIGHT 06-27-2008 08:56 AM

Submerge the woofers and see if they will propel the boat.

Knot 4 Me 06-27-2008 09:01 AM

I'm sporting a Kraco 8-track and 2, old vinyl woodgrain covered stereo speakers from a cheap Sears home system from the 70's hooked together with some electric cord from an old lamp. That's how we roll in the MW. Got Montrose's "Space Station #5" and "Rock Candy" blasting away on it every weekend! :D

The grass will always be greener on the other side, no matter how hot she is, but its fun to look bro'.

I think he could anchor that boat at the dam, and rock the entire South end of the lake. SO LOUD. Nothing was cooler than when he had the US Open on the big screen last Summer in the middle of Dripping Springs. People were booing when his boat would spin on the anchor out of sight....me included. :drink:

On the flip side, I hardly ever use the darn thing because we're always running! :evilb:

You have arrived when you can catch Espn's "Gameday" on 60 plazma "underway" on the top deck. There was a few w/e's last year, it looked as if 50 cent was rolling film on a video, plenty of talent up there at times.

waterboy222 06-27-2008 05:35 PM

ya, matts is hellaciously loud! Tyson, what kinda batteries do you have running all those subs?

fine choice in tunes...
though I believe it's "space station #9"
"Oh what a time we had living on the ground..."

"you're rock candy baby...
hot, sweet, and sticky"

Nothing exotic, but it blows away the factory installed system for volume and clarity.

Alpine CDA-9856 head unit with I-POD and Sirius.
four 7.7 JL Audio coaxial speakers in the cockpit, I left the 2
Factory installed 6.5" speakers in the cabin alone.
one 10" JL Audio subwoofer in cockpit.
one JL Audio M1400 class D 400 watt monoblock subwoofer amp.
one JL Audio M4300 class a/b 300 watt 4-channel full-range amp.
I also added a automatic charging relay/isolator with a group
27 deep cycle marine battery to power it all when I am not
running or on shore power.
