Thumbs down 5k FOR CAT. INS.(NO FRICKIN WAY)

PMA just quoted me 5K for a yearly premium and thats with a 2 month layup.Hell I live here in Fla. and thats not happening.I`m 45 yoa and have 10 years boating exp. and drive professionally for a living with no Accidents and 1 speeding ticket in 1982 for 67 in a 55. The boat was ins. for 110k top speed 115mph.If this is the norm I guess I might have to go back to the V`s...

Insurance is getting out of hand. New 32 skater with 575 $7000/yr. Then again there are no just minor or fender benders with a boat. Usually the claim is for a total loss. I'm thinking of paying off the boat and only taking liability and fuel spillage ins. The banks will start to watch closer and require ins. on any financed boats. This might just be the start of a boom for older boats which are refurbished to near new.

Pma for my new Thunder was 4608.00, way too much, I also emailed the other three companies , and Blackadar replied they would get back to me. Sy was the cheapest at 3100.00, but Im not willing to pay that much, need to fine tune that Sy, boat will be done April 15.

I honestly think that we (cat owners) and also HP boat owners will be in for a rude awakening this insurance season. I am not sure yet...but I would bet money that my insurance company doesn't even renew me. And with the insurance companies that write High Performance boat policies declining and getin gout of that type of ...insurance will not be available. Prices are going to go up a minimum 35%...just like my business insurance and building insurance....and THEY blame it all on 9-11

packinair...what type of boat do you have?
Jazzman...be thankful at 3100.00 My cat is about that of not a little more.
