berns29scarab 06-29-2008 09:56 PM

5 minutes from toms river and 20 minutes from jackson here

georges 06-29-2008 10:13 PM

It's a 24 Pantera. The boat is in Jackson the owner lives in Toms River.
He can show it either before 11 am mon, wed, fri or after 9 pm. Don't know about tue and thu.
I used to own the orange 1978 Pantera 24. I am ready to buy this thing if it is what the seller claims it is.
I just want someone to look at it, make sure it is a real Pantera and basically look it over for damage, leaks, etc...
The seller claims everything is in pretty good shape and everything works. I know, it is a 1980 after all, so I don't expect perfection.
Maybe you can email me your phone#. I can call you in the morning and give you the contact details.
Thanks for all the offers of help, you Jersey guys are always there for everyone!.
Anyway here's my cell# 954-593-2299
my email: [email protected]

Just renewed my membership, so we can PM.

I could take a look at it for you. Flexible schedule this week. I am a former 24 Pantera owner. It is not the one that was formerly located at Proroc in Brick, is it?

DaveP 06-30-2008 07:11 AM

If its a 1980 I would strongly recommend a NAMS or SAMS survey to make sure that the structural integrity is 100%.

You're probably right, but first I just need someone to give it a quick look and make sure this boat is what the seller says it is.

Pretty sure that boat is located at our marina now... Anything you can tell me about it? They claim it runs mid 80's???

The new owner doesn't know much about it and the marina suggested that I show him how to drive it but I turned down thier suggestion/offer.......

It's blue, shrinkwrapped, the guy has owned it for 10+ years, doesn't use it much, his name is Wayne.

Different boat

scarabman 06-30-2008 02:02 PM

Same here. Different boat.

The one that was at Proroc was/is white with purple&blue stripes and running a blown 454 as I recall. A little rough around the edges.

Sounds like the one we have at the marina but not the one georges is asking for info about.. If it had a harwood hatch scoop that's the boat that's now at our marina.... I heard it's blown but I don't hear a blower whine when he fires up and he uses captains call around the docks. For a 77' it's not bad IMHO....

Pantera had a Harwood scoop so more than likely, thats the one. It has a B&M 175 or 250 on it as I recall. Basically, the motor is a 525SC. It looks good till you get up close and personal then you will see a few things. Starboard side of the hull as I recall, also around the tab brackets, but as you said, for its age it is not too bad. they are truly fun boats to drive with a little power behind them.

Hmmmmmmm!
All I found on that site was the following Pantera prefixes: PPA, PPG and WCW.
Yours isn't that far off!
My 1978 also started with WCW.

VinMan 07-02-2008 06:57 AM

you are right,

PPA, or PPG is Biscayne address, WCW was Pantera USA on 188th. I didnt think they moved to 188 until later in the 80's???

I feel better now that I see PPA and PPG, I believe PPF in kansas is the one that made bassboats
