I am trying to find a general location for the cavitation plate in relation to the sponsons. I am rigging a 10' AT catamaran from scratch so I am just trying to find a starting point. I know that a V is rigged with the cav plate in line with the hull so does a cat have it lined up with the bottom of the sponsons???

10 foot cat? What are you putting on? A 25 or 40 HP? If your name was Sharkey I would think a 75HP might be needed.

Since it's an OB I'd start with the prop shaft even with the bottom of the sponsons. I't easier to lower it than raise it. If you can get on plane and you have water pressure to cool the motor, keep going higher. Once you can't get on plane or overheat, you have gone one notch to high.

Oh, and ask BodyShot about steering torque when you lift the motor. When you get real high and only the bottom of the prop is in the water, it wants to walk the rear end around and the steering wheel. Well that was with a 200hp your results may vary.

Thanks for the advice....I think I am going with a 35 hp to start, we'll see how it works Pat told me it would work with a 2.5 Bridgeport but I haven't upped my life insurance yet
