Lets start over

Since this is a performance boat site let me share a little about mine. I have been cleaning up and doing a face lift to my 21' Challenger. This boat is the Grandpappy to performance hull pad boats. It was built by George Linder and Rich Luhrs up in Long Island for offshore racing. After about three years of production the molds were sold to Coen of Superboat fame. Shadow, Intimidator, Apache and lots of splashes came from this hull one way or another. Its a 1976 and was in pretty rough shape. The hull is solid but the deck was a mess. After last season I decided to strip the deck of all hardware and rigging and fix the hundreds of spider cracks caused by the screws that held all the teak down. Hopefully I will be back in the water next weekend once I rerig this motor. I ran it last year with a Merc 2.4 225 to a best of 70.1mph. Hoping to see a little more than that with the 3.0 250efi thats hanging on her now. We will see. Thanks for looking.

Its a labor of love. Going outside now to finish off that stupid glove box. Some one glued it to the dash and I have to finish the teak with it on the boat. Mike

It could be one of the last boats built in Long Island, what a piece of history, thanks for not letting it lay there forgotten.

There is definately something to be said about the old school rides.

My friend Bernie raced the 21' Challenger with a pair of 2.4L back in the 80's in the Lobster Shanty 200 race. There is video of it in the Big Seas Linder Luhrs DVD. Needed some BIG SACK to drive that boat!

BlackJack58 07-14-2008 09:29 PM

Excellent job on the resto. That is one sweet ride! :boat:

Damn. That looks like it was a scary ride and I thought I was crazy with the 22 Donzi. I remember that boat. You know they made one great hull to run twins on the back of a 21.

Frank I dont know. Looks like any back yard in Brick or Long Island. Thanks for the site and Youtube Dave. I am going to order DVD tonight. Hope to meet George Linder in the fall up at Tanner Park in Copiage, Long Island. Rich Luhrs was down here a couple of weeks ago but I missed him because of a softball game. At least we won.
