Upstate NY boaters, I need some help?
 

I sold two seats to a Bob Henkel for his Scarab last year. This was all done on ebay and Bob had to cover transport. Bob said he had contacts in the transport business through his job at John Deere and tells me what day they are picking up. A truck showed up back in Novebmer and picked up the seats, driver has no paperwork. I type up a release of liabuility and have the driver sign it (I signed it too). Now I get collections calls saying I am on the hook for the transport fee. I guess old Bob set up an account under my company name with the shipping company. They pick up the seats, deliver them to Bob, and 7 months later I get calls 3 days out of the week. Bob has lost his job at John deere and phone and email are shut off. Transport comapany cannot find Bob and is now billing me. Anyone know of this clown? I just need a number for the collections people.

It's astonishing how cheaply some people are willing to sell their charachter for.

FWIW- the driver has the responsibility to only take freight that has with is a UCC-compliant bill of lading. The next time they call to collect, ask for a copy. The driver isn't permitted to have cargo on board without this paperwork.

was it a major truck line or a small transport company, who furnished the delivery address and called the pick up in, sounds like it was the purchaser. Was this delivered to his home. What was on the paper work you made up for the driver, did it mention costs, it should have said collect or third party billing.

Ask them to provide you with all the documention regarding
pick up order, setting up the bogus paperwork.

Do you have any of the old correspondence from the ebay transaction or the old listing. If you don't perhaps ebay can recover that for you.

I just got off the phone (Called at 10:00 NY time). I will find out the deal in the am but it looks like International paid the shipper and the frieght company cant figure out what paid means.

iam glad it worked out for both of you, rember it was my ebay account that was used and i didnt want any trouble.. bob does pay his bills if he can and i know he likes the seats. so get the trucking company.... hey and you should say sorry to bob for thinging the worst
