Default 525's flushing kit.

Anyone has a short and simple directions of installing a flushing kit on 525's ?
Where to put them? Inline with the intake hose? after before the sea water pump? etc..
Thanks

P

The one's on my 500's are on the intake side of the pump. I just had the pumps rebuilt. The mech said one of the impellers was toast and blamed the flush kit. He said it was for in water use not when you are on a trailer. So I use two hoses now. One on the outdrive cuff and one on the flush kit. Try to avoid a flush kit with a plastic hose fitting. Mine just broke.

I meant to add that you cut the pump intake line. Using hose clamps install the "Y" fitting. Route the water line up to the front on the motor where it is easy to reach. Avoid sharp turns and kinks in the hose. Install the check valve and you are done.

Probably want to attach the hose to the"Y" fitting before installing it

This is mercurys kit, http://www.rainboat.com/index.asp?Pa...D&ProdID=79720.

I have seen these on alot of boats. Some Formulas have them installed from the factory I beleive. Hook up hose while on trailer and run engine for 7-10 mins.

The fitting installs on the intake hose, cut it and install inline.
The hose water inlet fitting can be mounted on top of the front of the engine, near fuel filter bracket. Works good and is simple, no valves to worry about opening and closing. And it is a mercury part so it should not void the warranty.

THanks guys.. THat Merc. part may be the ticket, due to the warranty issues.
In recap... I install the "Y"/fitting before the sea water pump, after the "hose" comes through the transom from the outdrive..., on the engine block. (right?/ )

That is correct. The "Y" fitting isn't really a "Y" make sure you install it so the water flow from the hose is toward the pump
