Man Arrested for Boating While Intoxicated
by Yevette Collins
Published Jul 14, 2008

A crash on Cayuga Lake Sunday night resulted in the arrest of an Interlaken man for Boating While Intoxicated.

Deputies say Benjamin Kopf, 51, passed out while at the wheel of his 34-foot boat. It struck a 20-foot boat that was in a hoist along the lake shore in the town of Fayette.

Kopf was also charged with operating without lights.

He was issued an appearance ticket and is due back in court on July 23 to answer to the charges

He was passed out drunk, hit another boat, and only issued an appearance ticket?

You think they would have thrown him in the drunk tank to sober up

Well if was still at the wheel they will convict him. I'm not sure about where you all live but here in NY BWI carries the same weight and sentence as if you were behind the wheel of a car. It used to be a fine, now it affects your drivers license and everything, they changed the law last year.

Yea I was watchin "Part Heat" they were trying to pull a drunk PWC, cops pulled beside him (he ignored the sirens and bull horn) and he turned right into the cop boat, smacked it good, even caught the cop off guard.
