Donzi re-rig/update - dash and engine before and after

Thought you guys might like to see a few pics of a 26' ZX Donzi that I just finished for OSO member ZXXX Donzi. It had a stock 502 Mag MPI. It was turned into a 540 with aluminum Brodix BB2X heads and an M3 Procharger. I modified the manifold and fuel rail to accept 65lb injectors and converted it from a Mefi 1 to Mefi 4 with a custom harness. I also removed the entire Procharger fuel system and replaced it with a new pump, regulator, and plumbing. If someone is interested, I will give the entire parts list and custom touches the engine received. It made 872 hp at 5700 rpm, which is where it is proped to run. It pulled to 6200 rpm, where it made 945 hp.

The dash is made of carbon fiber that I layed up myself. It is very easy to do if anyone wants to know how. The switch panels are custom made by Team Marine. Those guys are awesome! It received new Gaffrig Performance gauges and IMCO steering. Here are a few shots. Enjoy.

LOVE the carbon fiber. That looks awesome!!!

That is the short version of everything he did to my boat. You really ought to see that thing. There is not a fitting, wire, hose bend that he rigged that is not completely thought out.

Eddie worked hard to use a few parts I had to build a custom motor. He does not stop until it is done right.

The boat now runs like no other 26ZX. It is a blast to drive.

What kind of numbers are you seeing now vs before and what type of fuel etc. are you running now??? Looks awesome. Hammer

I run 93 octane.

The boat ran 63-64 on a good day before. It has been to 88 before hitting some big waves. Eddie does not quit as soon as he puts in the boat. Boat conditions do not exactly equal dyno conditions so he is still dialing it in. It should do around 95 all said and done. That is a 30 mph increase and I could not be happier.

I have driven the boat at 85mph and it was not working hard.:ernaehrung004:

Thank you everyone. It does still need some fine tuning. I have to find a good day to do it. Everytime we try to ring it out, we hit a roller and get it out of shape. I'd rather not end up in the water.
I will post some final numbers as soon as I can. As Bill said, we are looking for 95 mph. Again, thanks everyone.
Eddie

Just an update. I ran the boat yesterday to do some final tuning and to just go ring it out to see what it will do. I ran out of balls at 94.8 gps. I came up on some rollers and backed out of it as it was getting out of shape. It got out of shape a couple times before and got real bad. The last thing I wanted to do was go swimming or trash the boat, so I stayed on the side of caution. The boat was actually running and handling excellent until I hit the rollers from a cruiser. I was pleasantly surprised by how well the boat handled at almost 95. It was still pulling pretty good when I lifted. I really think it will hit 100 in the right conditions. The water just got worse, since there was a fishing tournament starting and about 50 bass boats starting buzzing up and down the lake. I gave up at that point trying to run top speed. Anyway, just wanted to give you guys a speed update. Enjoy, Eddie

NICE job Eddie,

I must say I was very impressed with the new setup Bill.
I did not see the boat before, but (i hope you dont mind) I climbed in at Eddies and was very impressed with the new setup. Very classy looking, not busy and will never date the boat, nice selection.
I look forward to being passed on Center hill this summer.
As soon as I get back from my trip next week, I have 2 weeks off. Maybe we'll see you on the lake.
Beautiful boat and a nice job. Congrats.
95 mph aint shabby at all. She's a runner.

Keep Eddie comin out our way, I figure soon enough he'll figure out what we have goin on out here in the stix.

Nice job both you guys, keep the faith.....Michael

Thanks Micheal. It is a runner and is even faster than I hoped. I put a bunch of thought into it. Through Eddies guidance and hard work I think it is a well turned out ZX. Keep quiet about the stix. It is nice to be able to run hard without hassel.

I saw your boat a number of weeks ago covered in Smithville. I would really like to see it in person. It looked very well turned out.

I will give you a shout and we can go splash the boats in CH when you get back.
