Hate to thread jack but I'm looking for some first hand knowledge of commander boats and it seems very hard to come buy using my search tab and Google.
Thanks guys

His screen name was Commander112 here on OSO. You can probably find some old posts from him. He eventually sold it just to go back to a stock powered V-bottom, but not after he had at least one magazine spread on his boat.

Had a buddy with a Commander cat, a 28 or so maybe? He loved the boat, and monkeyed with it for years adding huge power and a Number V drive to it, up from the stock power/Bravo it came with it.

Thats a great boat.
If I boated primarily on lakes I would probably have a Bullet
Never seen one at Catalina in over 30 trips spanning 3 years.
Saw a commander split in 2 in Parker once- not for me.

We were heading from below Badenochs to the Moovalya Keys and I was in my 20.8 tunnell with a 500HP 406 racing an 18 foot jet boat with a blown 440 mopar mill in it.
I had a chick with me.
He had a chick with him.
The guy in the commander was a buddy of the guy in the jetboat and was upriver from us on a walkie talkie when the race started. We were closing on him fast and we all hit a big set of rollers. The guy in the jetboat and I were in the upper 80' passing him at around 60-65 and we hit it....
The launch was hard enough to split the commanders upper and lower by 4 fingers at the front and you could see screws hanging out - nasty.
