Cost of 540 ci rebuild

What would you estimate the cost of a Teague 540 700 HP would be for a complete rebuild? Engine ran low on oil and is using oil now. I may make my buddie an offer on it.

Tom, what are you going to do with the 700 ??:grinser010:.....should you buy it.

How many hours were on it? You will get quotes all over the board untill you know what parts it needs. Then you have to decide whether to try to save worn parts or replace.

Not sure yet. I may trade him for my 598 since he has the money. I can do the rebuild myself and pocket the leftover cash. May help keep "Barely Legal" in the garage until the business gets better.

I'm pretty sure it needs at least machining done to the rotating assembly since what happened. He is going to tell me what his quote is for getting it rebuilt. Just trying to get a head start on what price I should be close to.

It could range from anywhere $5500 to $8500 depending on damage. That would be full rebuild parts, labor, paint, dress, and dyno

JC,
What do you think my pkg is worth if I listed it? I'm just looking for offers so far.

Adrenaline Marine 598ci 801hp roller motor. Only 85hrs, most idling through Havasu's long chanell. Dart tall deck block, AFR Heads, Jesel Valve train, custom oil pan, valve covers and carb cover, MSD, Closed cooling system, Lightning dry exhaust all included. Turn key!

Update, he got a quote from Teague for $7500. base. We'll see what happens.
