15 CC Porposing problem

Buddy just bought a 15 foot offshore CC boat with a 88 johnson on back. The thing porposes real bad. The engine does not have hydraulic trim. It has the fixed rod with the different holes in it for adjustment. We have tried different adjustments on the rod to stop the porposing with no luck at all.

Do you guys have any idea what can be done to stop it? I know all the weight is in the back. Engine, fuel tank and driver etc. Thought about putting one of those fins on the lower outdrive ,but didn't know if it would do any good.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Shawn

West marine sells little fins that go on the bottom of the outboard right above the prop, should fix your problem, very easy to bolt on as well

Did you start at all the way trimmed IN, and work your way out? The more you trim it, the more it wants to carry the whole boat out of the water. When the prop can no longer hold the boat up, the boat falls, and the prop starts its process of lifting again. This becomes a repeating "porpoise". Try a couple of sandbags up front, and trim it all the way in, and start over.

Thanks for the input guys. Not use to messin' with the lil' boats. I just know it has a lot of weight in the ARSE of it. I'll talk with my bud and see what he wants to do!

Thanks guys!@!
