Bob's Cancun record safe for now
Three adrift for four days rescued off Keys
The Associated Press • July 25, 2008 KEY WEST — The Coast Guard rescued three people who were adrift for four days aboard a homemade wooden boat that launched from Hollywood, Fla. No one was injured. The rescue happened 20 miles south of Key West on Wednesday. Officials said the 40-foot vessel — which was named the White Elephant — left sometime Saturday or Sunday. The three people, including one British citizen, were headed to Cancun, Mexico, but ran into bad weather probably created by Hurricane Dolly. The boat began taking on water and the group huddled on a dinghy for four days before they were spotted and rescued. |
A homemade 40 ft vessel?...wish I had that kind of time to burn.
