Default Joe Mach

Was reading the article in PB about the old races, What ever happen to Joe Mach and his boat Dirty Laundry? Used to watch him race on ESPN when back in the late 80 and early 90's

Didn't Joe also wind up holding the bag for SBR after another of the "bankruptcies" occurred?

also SMITTY PASSED AWAYa few years back. He was a funny guy I thought and great throttleman. At the 94 key west races we were talking and I brought up some of his wins and said can I go on a test run I could sit on the back of the canopy and in a straight face smitty looked at my wife and said if you don't mind he can sit on my lap he was a cool guy.by the way this is airtime on jerrys computor. art

Thumbs down

I saw Joe's big 4 engine CUV in Chicago around 1990, being used as a pleasure boat.

Full canopy, 2 seats.

Watching 2 guys anchor it off the Oak Street Beach, and then sit on the fore-deck for the afternoon was about the dumbest thing I've seen done with an ex-race boat.

They also stood it straight up on its tail in New Orleans, and Joe said that for the first time he realized that he could be KILLED doing this. He would not have had an easy time getting out of a submerged boat!
