Keep in mind when "reflecting or blocking" the radiant heat from entering the interior of the home, it causes the reflected heat to "superheat" the shingles(if you have them) and will cut your roof life short. Try and figure cooling savings and what it will cost to replace your roof in 15-20 years. Roofing asphalt has gone from 400.00/ ton last year to about a 1000.00 a ton right now. Shingle $$ and disposal $$$ will only continue escolate as well. There are a lot of variables in the big picture to consider.

Ron actually did the insulation in my house, my neighbor has about the same square footage that i have and the same insulation but i have R B plywood on my roof. My electric bill is between $60-80 less per month than my neighbor. Like Ron said my soffit is vented on the entire length of the house.

When I reroofed my house I cut a 1 inch slot along the ridge and covered it with some stuff that looked like plastic corragated cardboard then the cap shingles. It cut my summer cooling bill in half. I got the plastic stuff at Lowes.:drink:
