I had always heard that there is something not good about using regular oil (oil not formulated for diesels) in diesels, but never the other way around. I had heard that it has something to do with the interaction with combustion and the residues left in the oils. I had heard this from a long time diesel mechanic of course that does not make it true. Just my $.02

OK, now I remember it has to do with the high sulfur content of diesel fuel interacting with the oil. Sure made sense to me.

Always Rottela in my diesels....Never thought of it for gas ? Makes sense though.....If it has to hold up to the crap diesels put out its gotta be tough stuff [High heat,Lots of cleaners]
