My Formula 400SS Re-Power
2 Attachment(s)
I have been really busy the last few weeks with work and searching for either rebuilding my 502 or repowering, so I bought some 496HO's and finally got the boat back together this past week. Hydro locked one of my 502's on Friday the 4th of July and got it back together this past Friday....
I would like to say a HUGE Thank You to Ken K. (OSO Member Metal Bros. Racing) for helping me with the new engines. I bought the pair from Ken and he was great to deal with, I appreciate it buddy!!!!! Here is my extremely dirty bilge and the 502's we pulled out... |

Fast Forward to this past Thursday, 07-31 Ken had the engines transported Via Forward Air, I picked them up @ 8AM and headed to the Marina to uncrate...:evilb:

Had the boys detailing the boat except the last five feet of it at least....
Lap Top checking all systems are up and operating like they should... Putting the Hatch back on, this was one of the worst parts of the job....:angry-smiley-038: |

Well now I know how you got them in so quick, with that hatch off it looks pretty cake! Lot's of room in the back.
Yep, it is a 4' by 4' hole in the floor basically.... Thanks for everything Ken and as we discussed earlier I'll be sending you the hoses back out in the next week or so.... |
One of the mistakes we made, unbolting the engines from the crates and we "hit" one of the cool fuel lines, basically a fuel line that has a pressed plastic fitting inside the rubber line that snapped..... Called everywhere locally and some of the Shops we called didnt even have the part number in there systems.... Ran home and started calling around, at least 10 shops including the big ones on here and nothing. I called Don Carter @ Offshore Performance in Ft. Myers at 4:55PM and not only did he have it he ran down to the Fed Ex office and overnighted it to me, 10:30 the next morning and the part arrived.... That would have put the brakes on our completion time and wouldnt of been able to get part until today...
|
I dont know if I want to sell it or not now...... :evilb::evilb:
Who em I kidding everything I own is for sale!!!!!:party-smiley-004::drink: |
Congrats, When I saw the engine issues you had I started to call you and tell you I'll swap boats with you....but not engines. Wouldn't that 400 run well with my "500's" in it!!! :)
|
Congrats on the swap glad it all worked out for you. The power of OSO comes through AGAIN.
|
bet you can out run that old cig now :hitfan:
|
Great job, got 'er done quick!
How's it runnin' vs. the 502s getting better performance? Out of the hole quicker? Slower? Top end, mid-range?? Inquiring minds want to know. :D :drink: |
Congrats Pat.
|
Pat, very happy to hear that things worked out for you. Be sure to keep in touch about that 'other subject' we talked about. :D
After post 11, I wonder about what new thread may "pop up" in the next week or so. :party-smiley-004: |

Top End is still roughly the same it just gets there alot quicker.... Mid Range feels really strong as I picked up a couple of MPH at my cruise RPM... |
congrats, lots of great weather left to enjoy it.
