I bought a stacker sport about 2 years ago ( the cordless one). Have played with it everwhere. In boat when using radar to GPS sometimes one faster than other. Bob Teague had article about the differences. When you radar into the wind water is coming at you & can make your boat faster.

problem with radar gun on freeway is when the other person that just passed you sees his radar detector go off with a strong signal they cut in front of you & slam on brakes. Then you have to slam on brakes to keep from hitting them.

When a friend of mine went to check out a boat he was looking at you should have seen the dealers face when we got in boat with radar gun after he had asked dealer how fast the boat went.

Hey HRPA, just placed an order for one from Heartland's for $79.99. I figure it's cheap enough to try. Could be the beginnings of our own "shootout"...;)

Mine is on the way. I will test it's acuracy in my truck. If this thing works, it could be a good way to get free rides in people's boat!!! Just ask them if they want their boat radared.

I may have to get one of those, I thought radar guns where like a grand?? I know I can swing $80:p RADAR shoot out on SML

Kent 03-04-2002 12:27 PM

got one. thanks for the info. should be alot of fun calling people on their speed.

Reckless32 03-04-2002 12:39 PM

I've only seen a version in PB/Hotboat mags that advertised for $599. For $79, it's worh tinkering with....Maybe I'll charge $5 per use and make my money back.....he-he-he :p

Red Stripe 03-04-2002 12:49 PM

Looks like a fun toy!! We expect a full report from you guys :D
Its hard to believe that it would be that accurate though. But if its not, maybe it will make your GPS readings seem slow and be right on with your speedo :D :D

Reckless32 03-04-2002 12:59 PM

Well I guess they won't be any different than the GPS's which are only as accurate as we allow them to be OR prove them to be...Otherwise they say what we say they say....;)

After talking to people & being told how fast their boat is I ask if they want to radar it. Only people that have taken me up on it other that close friends have been people with waverunners. Most answers I get are boat not running very good right now.

Mack312 03-04-2002 07:04 PM

We have a Falcon hand held with a set of tuned forks (55MPH 65 MPH) and my wife got me the new little cordless for Chmas.

Put the forks to it and it was on the money.

PS The little one is great fun on long trips (road). The jerk in the left lane doing 90 skins up his leg getting to the breaks... SO get out the hell out of his way!

Mack312 03-04-2002 07:07 PM

Oh by the way 10 years ago, I would check a boats speed for free. After the owner made 6 or so passes and never hit 60 yet 70 MPH, I would charge him $20.00 to keep MY mouth shut:eek:   :)
