Sickness to go bigger

So I buy my first boat 3 months ago a new Formula 350SS and put about 10 hours on it over the few months. I promised myself (and my wife) this boat would be good for at least 3 years.

Why is it that I am already looking for a bigger boat? I am now looking at the Sea-Ray 40 or 44. Is this a common sickness among boaters? Of course I will have to replace my new lift too since that is only setup for 17000 pounds.

Its a sickness for sure.

oh yea . . . hugely common . . . and this website is basically a support group although it tends to work in the wrong direction. . .

fyi . . . the 40 or 44 Searay wont be big enough either :D

fourfoot'itis (known by other technical terms also).

I went from 19 to 30 to 38. I aspire to be in the 42-47 range
Stick with what you have, its a nice model.

I agree..the 400ss isnt that much bigger and is not really any faster. Just has larger power to go the same speed as the 350ss. Ive been in your shoes..started out with 24 Formula, 27 Fountain, 34 PowerQuest, 38 Top Gun 42 Sonic, then 37 A.T. and the last 3 have been 43 Nor-techs. I wanted to go larger like the 50 Nor-Tech, Hustler or OL..but why...the third motor is there for one reason..too carry the additional weight of the longer boat. I realize now, Im happy for what I have. My next boat will actually be smaller, and if I get my way a cat under 40'.. Good Luck with your decision. Jeff

Or you can get a big ole ZX like Glassdave. Lot's of room, stomps waves, moves pretty good and oh yeah....really good looking paint job!:ernaehrung004:

I register my boat in Delaware under a corporate name for tax purposes, the name of the corp.......3 foot itch, inc.

The lady that works my "account" thought it was great!!!

Like stated, this place is a support group that will cause you to BUY that bigger boat!!! I haven't been on a 350SS yet but if I can stand up in it like the 370SS then it's on my short list for my next boat. (don't know when that might be though)

LapseofReason 08-08-2008 07:55 PM

Well lets see 19' with 160 hp, 23' 330hp, 29' twin 350 mags, 42' twin 500hp's, 50' trip 850's.+ 1/2 dozen Jet skis and a 16' skiff.
Now I want a 35-40 Center Console 2-4 outboards that are from 250-350hp and a 38 Donzi ZRC with 500's-525's for my speed fix. I never sleep on my boat anymore and I do all my own work on the boats so I want to take alot of the work out of boating. Just my 2 cents.

If you bought the Formula with their 0% for 2 then 3.99 for the rest of the loan you will want to keep it or you are going to take a 50-100k hit.

Yeah I can see the support group thing here. I get all of my ideas here. I visit the fountain forum and was seriously considering a 42 lightning but I quickly realized that wasn't a really good family boat. THen I hang out in the Cigarette forum and the same thing.
I'll try to keep telling myself the 350SS is good enough for now.

There's your problem. It's not just about bigger, it's about different. You didn't give yourself much room. I went from a 27 to a 29 to a 32. Thinking 36 now, but then I'm done. I can't even imagine the maintenance required on a 40' Sea Ray.
