What it means is that we own a boat that's great in rough water......it means we spend more money to try and keep up on the maintenance so we're not hit with a big ticket dollar amount in repairs (which will happen at some point) because she does have big HP. We don't have to prove anything to anyone about how well our 41 Apache performs. We experience it, live it and love it. We didn't buy the boat so that we could go out in big water and prove anything. We bought the boat because I was afraid in our 31 when we got into water over 3 feet. I told my husband to please buy us a boat that when we did get into big water (and yes, sometimes it's because we do go out to run in big water, but if it is rough when we're on a trip we know we can get back), we would get back safely without beating the hell out of us and our boat. That's what we got when we purchased our old Apache. And we'd do it all over again in a heartbeat! :party-smiley-004: |

The more I look at all the new stuff the more I lean toward an old redone Apache or Cig. A 41 or even a 47. I think it's more realistic to have/enjoy those boats if you regularly boat along the coast. They are battleships in the rough and are just plain cool when rafted up with everyone. I've got an old wave crusher with #6's and a newer style paint job and '02 hatch. When we pull up to a raftup or bar/restaurant, 99% of the people could give two chits (or even know) if it's a twin step. They have no clue that it's a 1988 model.......and the phucking sailboaters just know that it's loud and they hate it!! I agree with smokeybandit. I took a ride with Phil Lip-Ship out Goverment Cut around 1995 in a Top Gun my Uncle bought from him. I've never seen waves that big before or since, had to be legit 9-10's and he ran a '92 TG to the pins all the way to Port Everglades. The boat never missed a beat, we never took a hard hit and not a drop of water on the deck or us. Trully an amazing ride....I credit Phil.

When you talk about rough water boats the first that come to mind always are Apache and Cig. say all you want other boat brands but it's just a fact that those two boats are known for rough water ride. Its not just how they ride but the fact they can take a beating and come back in one piece..And then go back out and do it again over, and over, and over....
