True UIM World Championship 1987 Key West 32 Skater triple outboards. That was the best one against the best competitor. There were a few others also and one missed by 3-4 points out of 1200+ - Picture of boat was on the ABPA magazine and the great competitor coming out of Key West harbor . The rougher the better. The harder the turn the better, a dime is a big turn. I am getting sucked in here that is why I never posted I miss it to much.

It is a Skater by a long shot. :evilb: I have seen plenty of rough water in one and seen them also go passed me when bigger. I have been in Skaters, thrown out of Skaters. gunnel rides in Skaters and been 6' feet under water in one for 150 feet until it broke the surface. I have also been airborne like a plane 20 feet in the air, looked straight toward the sky from them at 90*, turned them on a dime, and also most hit a helicopter with one. I just can't remember if R.L. was in the chopper. Hello R.L.:cheer:

I really don't think many here have really pushed a boat in rough water. I only regret I have no videos from inside boat to share.

I also know I should never have looked at this site as race boats make my blood boil. There is nothing like offshore racing. I joined a while back but have stayed off here until the accident I witnessed last week. I was searching for info on the tragedy which has happen to often before.

It is just an addiction worse than drugs. I have moved to play with cars but there is no equal. The rougher the race the better. I'd rather be in a 6' race at 70-80 mph than a calm flat race at 140.


So if it's not a Skater it's just, well.....

I am not the one who suggested or said ANYONE was scared of anything, Apache or not. That was someone elses comment that you pinned on me. It was a great venue to see how the "talk" matched up with the "walk". I guess if it's not a Category 5 hurricane, it's not a "true rough water venue" worthy of an Apache to attend? I'm just curious, but are you really being serious with that assumption?

There are PLENTY of big Apaches and deep vee's with owners that can easily afford to have ran the race. It wasn't anymore expensive than a big poker run that we see Apache's attend all the time. Any Apache that would have had any chance at all (Kemo, Geronimo, etc), has an owner with the means to run this race. I can fully understand the logistics and personal schedule may have not lined up, but the water not being rough enough is hysterical.
