I don't think the Bertram 38 Comp would hang anywhere near the 41 Apache in really rough water. The extra length, taller hullsides and deeper deadrise on the Apache would make a world of difference, IMHO.

TGC-32 08-12-2008 10:51 AM

Plus, I can't think of any race that they (a 38 Bertram and a 41 Apache) actually competed against one another

DareDevil 08-12-2008 10:51 AM

you think in ruff water the 41 A was better then a bertram ?

TGC-32 08-12-2008 10:53 AM

I don't think it is even close, the Apache was far superior. Just my opinion, though.

DareDevil 08-12-2008 10:53 AM

I never heard of a bertram stuff or flip but there where alot of 41's that had the nose missing.

The best in rough water would be any boat throttled by Bob Saccenti.

ha ha ha hey the old baja 36 came from a cig mold that was sold to baja. I have been in a 38s resin bucket slow boat the cougar 38/ outerlimits 37/ 39 out ride them by a long shot:p, I'd take an old 89 cougar over a 89 resin bucket cig.:p [ ps loved it in the 90s when I was on cape cod and over a summer or two ran a few 38s with stock and one that was close to me at 600hp aside I would kill them in the chop and when we headed for open water running a lil rougher I would stay a 100 ft in front of them getting lots of air but in front back then it was great. NOW WITH THE NEWER BOATS AND STEPS its harder but theres always a faster boat around the cornor:p

The key word in the title of this thread was "best".
