I saw a 28 ft( I believe) Saber running in 5-6 ft waves and was doing very well. Now he was not in the front of the pack, a 53 ft Airborne cat was, but still couldnt believe how well he was doing

Another problem is allot of the old videos are from races running true offshore and the cool videos from back in that day had allot of Apaches dominating the big water
There are very few TRUE offshore races anymore that are covered with major video and commentary thus hard to find the great footage like we used to see There is still some recent cool stuff out there but you have to dig deep and usually does not have good commentary to go with it BRING BACK OFFSHORE and BRING BACK RICH LUHRS Nothing like back in the day Racing |

The Bimini and back race out of Miami gives people a chance to race old school. I would recommend everybody show up and show how Bad AZZ their boats are. 53 miles out and 53miles back through whatever mother nature puts out that day.

Hey Mark!
I'm sure there's SOME way to get raw footage from them, I just haven't tried very hard. I wanted the raw footage of the Chicago Poker Run in 07, but couldn't ever get anyone to really help me get it from the people that filmed it. I just blew it off after awhile. The water that year was pretty damn rough, & Jim Lee & I ran together for awhile that day, so I wanted the footage just to have for myself. There were a lot of other big boats on that run that had to have gotten on film running big water as well. You were in the First Mohican that day, not sure if you remember, but it was really rough out on Lake Michigan that day. There also has to be some great footage of almost every type of offshore boat ever made, running from Sunshine Key to Key West on the FPC runs each Fall. There have been some years where that last stretch was ROUGH, and I know there were helocopters filming from above, so the footage is somewhere. I suspect the "big wave footage" is bad for business on many fronts. It encourages owners to "put on a good show for the camera," freaks out underwriters and would probably not be a great video to watch for a skeptical first time poker runner considering doing an event.
