By the way these are 10,000 RPM engines.

in an earlier post you mentioned that this hull is a four pointer using the lower units as the aft two points. I am assuming that back in the day power lift wasn't available. That really must give this design a whole new dimension. I have to imagine with all the pedals and levers you got going on in there all you need in a pair of cymbals strapped between your knees and youd look an awful lot like a one man band while underway :D

I thought about volunteering for that vict . . .er passanger seat but on second thought . . . . have fun and as i'm sure your already aware . . be careful. shes a beut

Congrats! Wing looks awesome. Too bad about the breakage...sure you'll get it sorted asap. Can't wait to see it soon.

But, when you gonna start building a scaled up version - something in the 35-40 foot range????

glassdave 08-15-2008 07:15 PM

Hey . . . .does this mean your the august 15th World Champion "wing" class :drink:

Congratulations to everyone who had a part in it. I found it very interesting.:)

Way cool!:ernaehrung004:

When we were designing and running for records in RC boats we did some testing with a gyro, (from an RC helicopter), controlling a wing on a canard style 3 point hydro. With that technology, on your 4 point, would it eliminate the blow over issue? Worked, but was then illegal.

PatriYacht 08-16-2008 08:23 AM

Congrats on completing the Wing. I've been reading about it since you started. I like the overkill factor. Too much hp is never enough.:ernaehrung004:

Rich,
Put some stock 280hp on it and go set the ss record.

that would really make some people start to think

Looks awesome running

[QUOTE=EYEBURN;2654623]The first boat i owned was a switzer, kinda cool to see this one.

My first boat was a Switzer also. A shooting star with an inline 6 black max. It was a beast!

BROWNIE 08-16-2008 06:05 PM

T2rex, Congrats on your 'black boat up and down motor' World Chanpionship. I was a close battle.

Thanks for the compiment, but I wouldn't be me if I didn't point out that there never was a Mercury inline 6..."Black Max".

The Black Max was the first Mercury V-6.

Don't feel bad. A "famed" boating writer..... who shall remain nameless...... (Initials "BB").... has droned on and on about his early boating "experiences" with his "in line 6 Black Max "tower of power".

It didn't exist for him either.:D:D

C_Spray 08-18-2008 12:56 PM

Nice job, Rich. Always good to see others who appreciate something.....different. ;)

Magicfloat 08-18-2008 01:08 PM

Rich,I don't know if Bob Switzer even gets on line, but someone needs to make sure he and Dave see this thread. This is one of the best tributes to their genius and their designs of nearly 50 years ago.

I'm sure they know about it as it has been all over the Switzer website for the past few days.

I spoke to Bob when we first got the hull and he was/is skeptical regarding the V-6's........

Rich....the boat looks fantastic. I am just getting home from the Clayton NY Antique Boat races, so I am a little late on this thread.

What a great feeling it must be to have completed the project. Listen, I would be honored to fill that other seat any time you need some extra "ballast".

Here is a shot of some of the old race boats this past weekend. The first one is of an old Seebold Unlimited triple outboard....anyone interested in a project this winter, here it is.

The next is a an Allison....you know the one who had the "Beak" before you know who.

And the last is another great example of Switzer boats.

RBT 08-19-2008 12:02 PM

Picture one, I think is the Texmo Moth, was power by 3 3.4liter merc motors.. if I remember correctly.
That would be the ultimate restoration. Getting the motors right would be near impossible, as I understand it there were VERY few motors built for it. something like 9, I know a collector has 2 of them.
