Airwolf, if you haven't figured it out yet. Just click the "img" button above the text box. another box will appear asking for an address, simply clear that box and hit "ok" and you are all set.

Shorgasm... Ya it's 4WD. Never had a problem towing with the Expedition. Bought the expedition to tow our first boat which was 26' Only towed one year then bought the Vyper. Should of bought something bigger back then. Truck only tows at beginning of season and end. Otherwise, boat is rack stored. I just take it nice and easy!!

Powerqrudy...that shot was taken at the DNR ramp on the North Channel, Algonac in 2000.

LA-

It towed pretty good. Obviously not rated for the load........but I had the hitch upgraded to 10,000lbs non-load assisted. Kept a very close eye on the working order of the surge brake system, good tires and kept plenty of distance to the next vehicle. From LA to Sacremento CA.......I got about 6.5MPG towing about 65-70MPH.

liquid asset 03-05-2002 08:55 PM

I have a heavy duty 4x4 to pull ,but the navigator would be much more comfortable, but I don't know about pulling up the launch ramp I tow about6500-7000lbs

It's a 4x4 version................no problem! It has an auto 4x4 mode too..........any slipage and BANG it's in 4x4. It was kuel! Not towing..........if this street was wet from rain, in the 2-wheel mode it would burn out the tires......but in auto 4x4, it would just hook up with no burnout!

Payton 03-05-2002 09:54 PM

REally? You guys tow with you Navigators?
We bought one in December. a 1999, the towing capasity is only 3500lbs. I thought that was because of the air ride suspension.
I tow with my F150 4x4 (5800lbs capasity) I would like to take the Navigator when we got down to LOTO.

R Addiction 03-05-2002 10:33 PM

First it was this.....

R Addiction 03-05-2002 10:35 PM

Now it's this.............2000 GMC 2500, 454/Auto, 1 ton rear and suspension. Built to haul.....ASS!

Gizmo 03-05-2002 11:02 PM

Not sure if I am doing this right. My Chebby , big block, dually!

thunderdan 03-05-2002 11:11 PM

Are you sure about that tow rating on the Navigators? I towed my 5000 lb Active Thunder without any problems at all. My 2001 manual says the 4x2 has a gcwr of 14,500 lbs and a trailer weight range of 8900 lbs. The 4x4 gcwr of 14,000lbs and 8100 lbs trailer weight.  These are all with 17 inch wheels.

Hey CheckMateF1 - Are my eyes playing tricks or is that a short bed Dualie? Wild looking. Never seen one with a short bed!

Sydwayz 03-06-2002 08:53 AM

CheckmateF1's truck is a shortbed dually; very hard to find. It looks really tough from the side view; like it is ready to pull a wheelie.

CheckmateF1 03-06-2002 10:36 AM

Yes it's a shortbed. Apparently the previous owner special ordered it to tow his RV. Towed it once then got sick.

I took it back to the dealer for a state inspection and the guys in service said they have never seen one before. They thought it may be custom built not from the Ford factory. But it looks all factory to me.

Anyway, I love it!
Thanks for the kind words!
Eric

That got me thinking, too! Funny story:

Imagine my surprise as I take a sip of my beer, when I see some rich little kid pull into our marina with his shiny new navigator pulling his shiny new Hustler 37 slingshot enclosed poker run boat........Steam was pouring out from the radiator, a descent sized puddle of tranny fluid was forming on the ground, the bumper and hitch were practically worn away from the road, the rear end was smoking and the shackles which held on the helper springs were busted. What was he thinking????:D :D :D

Thanks Sea Dated
If you call any aftermarket accesssory store they should be able to help you. The grill insert is polished tubular stainless. Not the billet type! I went to Life university in Marietta Ga and worked at the Silverspoon Cafe in the Kennesaw Mall. I miss GA:)
