Its almost like that was sponsored by freedom boat club!
Boats are bad math..........purchase price/maintenance/insurance/fuel/storage divided by hours used is a rough number to consider!
A wise man once said if it flies, floats or fvcks........RENT IT!

A clickbait blog called cheapism tackling the subject of boat ownership. What could possibly go wrong?

BTW the next article up was 18 reasons to not by an RV!
RV ownership is only for people with time to use them. To get out of S. Florida northbound you need 5+ hours just to get to the state line, so imagine blowing 10 hours each way just to get that single digit per gallon RV to/from the campground. My buddy just bought a 37 ft one, he is deep in the dream of using it every weekend. 1st trip was about 90 minutes from home, a cheaper low amenity state campground in an inland area (hot as balls in the summer). I asked so what did you do...........watched TV, played cards etc. I said you could have done that in your front yard!
Seems like a lot of work on Friday afternoon only to return home on Sunday and spend 1/2 a day cleaning it.

Reads like it was written by an 8yr old kid thats pissed cause daddy is out playing with the boat instead of paying attention to him! Boo hoo there's hidden costs....yet no examples given....boo hoo the engines need maintenance, yeah and so does your car.
If people are that stupid to think that you just buy any toy out there and not expect to have to take care of it then you deserve the pain of finding out the hard way!

If you are going to try and rationalize anything fun with an economic objective, forget it. You have to look at with the thought that we only have so many hours to spend here on earth with family and friends (and many are cut unexpectedly short). Now lets get on the boat....

With the authors logic, If you rationalized every penny and headache encountered to go and conduct work, nobody would do it!

That's cause this guy is at home making more on unemployment and his extra stimulus payment then his old job flipping burgers and now he's trying to make some side cash under the table writing about things he has no ideas about
