The knowledge i have from close friends of Phil is this:He was a very experienced offshore racer dating back to the 80s.That boat was a 30 ft Shadow cat that broke 100.He bought the MTI with 525s a couple of years ago that went 115 plus and he raced the boat with us last year in OPA.He recently had Ron Potter 1200s built for the boat that TNT installed and tested to 160 a couple of weeks ago.He tested the boat on the wednesday before the race and ran it to 143 and pulled out of it.He sent the boat to the race with the roll bar removed. The boat still had the tunnel tab on the boat from the 525 set up.From what i hear is that he wasnt experienced with running a boat with that power and they had the tunnel tab down which caused the boat to "Kite" and barrel roll.I know that when the boat was pulled from the water is that it had level trim on the drives and tabs and everything was intact. The tunnel tab from what i am told should not of been used on a boat with that power and speed.
