boatpix.com pictures
Was out in the lake last sunday and the helicopter was out followed us for a bit, anybody gotten the pictures from them- worth the $250.00 ???? thanks Randy
|
I never bought any but I got a letter from them a couple of months ago about buying some they took of me.
I didn't remember having any helicopter following me around lately. I had no idea when they took the pix but then read the reference date. They were trying to sell me some that they had taken well over a year ago. I wonder how long it would take to get the photos? |

It took me more than six months after the poker run to get mine a couple of years ago, good pictures, but I have seen a lot of complaints about slow service and incorrect billing.
here is one that I scanned and resized |
I bought a picture from them a few years ago. I figure it was worth it because it would be a good keepsake of the boat. Then last year they I was at another run and when they sent me the pictures they were identical to the prior picture i bought. So i called and told them i was gonna return them and he gave me a little guff. I explained why i was returning them, its just not worth $300 for me to buy a nearly identical picture. Told him i'd be willing to pay $100 since they went through the trouble of sending them out. He got all bent out of shape, cussed me and hung up on me. So I decided i'd never buy another from them.
But then this year, I'm out on my parents 48' sea ray with them and boatpix.com shows up overhead taking a bunch of pics. I thought it would make a great 40th anniversary present for them because they are hard to buy for, so i went to the site and ordered them (even though i swore off boatpix). Well, that was back in june and my parents anniversary was last weekend. Still no pics. So I'm back to swearing them off and if the pics arrive at my house, they're getting sent back. Its no way to run a business. |
Thay took some off me a few months ago. Thay sucked and we sent them back! The ****ers still banged my card for $25.Thay said it was for shipping.

I've bought a pair of pictures from them, but negotiated a better price. The pictures are truely high quality, I only wish I had digital copies of the files as I would be able to use the images in more places then (desktop, digital picture frames, etc.). Granted they sell the digital copies, but the prices are the same as the hard copies.
In this day and age it is bizarre that the company doesn't host the images online (watermarked), allow you to recrop then order the size and quantity you want. |
Bought pictures from them a month or so ago. Great, large pictures, but not worth the $. Worked out about $225 per photo. Quality good, large prints, timely service, but I'm not spending that much for pictures anymore. I think they would do a lot better with reasonable prices.
Both: Jayboat and FPC prices are bettter. |

They shot photos of the LKN fun run last year,
I couldn't get their site to work for me, so I never saw what shots were even for sale. Could have been a mac thing..... but gave up after a while. Was disappointed at the time. Now I'm glad. |
we have had pics taken by them half a dozen times, never bothered to order one. They have a stubborn way of doing business. I understand their point that yes helicopters are expensive. But if they chopped the prices in half, they would probably sell 5-10 times the pictures. Seems simple to me.

Don't get me started on these guys. Absolute scammers!

If you haven't had them framed, or if you can unmount them easily, take em to a local photolab and have them scanned. Then you can use them any way you want.
