Windhield, install or not?

2 Attachment(s)
Last weekend we got pretty beat up in the rain, like hundreds of B-B's on my face and chest.. so I got some windshields.
In Fla rain is like the wind, comes and goes.

Install ? no? just wondering of the oppinions about appearence, looks. (sorry for the louzy pix, phone cam)

I have 2 "windaway" clamp on windscreens.......I also bought a cheap helmet with a full clear face sheild that I stash on the boat in case of rain......both have been rain tested and work fine.

It's a good lookin boat I think the windshields take away from it. Those might look ok on a two-up snowmobile:grinser010:

So I should leave it alone then? Actually I thought they look pretty good, but I figured I ask good olee' OSO before drillng holes.

I would go with a short windshield all the way across the front with a lip to kick it up over your head. Not crazy about the windscreens in the pictures. But what do I know ... I have a Velocity with a big ugly windsheild.........but it works.:grinser010:

I can't do a winshield across. I wish I could, but there is a "dip" in the center and also a hatch that opens up. The boat is a windshieldless design. :) Al I can do is two windhields. I can get different types but I thought the blue, curved would be the best option. THe jury is still out baes on the feedback
BTW.. I'm from Rockford to. Keith alum, 75. (did I just admit to the year?? ) We need to talk some more later..

Aero Marine in California can do just about anything possible in the way of windscreens. Why not send them those pics so they can determine the best shape and size for your boat. They can probably even drop the center down to block the wind coming through your center deck. After seeing their work on other boats(Donzi, Eliminator, Nordic, Skater), I'm convinced they can do anything.

BTW is that the Infinity or the Avanti?

I like them...maybe a little wider and not as tall though. But I think they would look great on that hull. Do you have the flip up windscreens? If so will the new shields cover them?

Audiofn 09-06-2008 11:50 AM

I would make a metal trim that went around the bottom of the windshield. Then weld bolts to the bottom. These would go through the deck and you could bolt from underneath. Then if you wanted to remove them ever you could just put black carriage bolts in. Kind of a have it your way kind of deal.

Thanks Audio.. Good idea. I was thinking about how could I install them and remove them if I wanted to or had to.

Jdub.. I do not have flip up screen.. There is a "place" for it in the hull. An indentation where the flip ups could and should go. The problem wtih the flip ups.. is that they can actually flip up on high speeds unlles they are "fastened" down. To many holes in the deck, plus I think a true windshield looks better. I rather just have a "true" windshield if they look ok. I can shave them down to be a bit lower profile. Some like it... lol some don't. My GF and son wants them.. I'm not sure yet.

I think the windshield look good but I also like the clean windshield-less look of your Active Thunder too.

I got them from Arcm co. Whole sale only but if you want some I can get them. Similar designs comes in blue, jellow, smoked and clear. There is a stamp on the side of the windshield, I'll get it Sunday. call me if you'r interested (561) 504-3635

Fever.. Thanks but it's not an AT.. It's an Avanti.. last one made. Aronow design.. somewhat modified. J.C. Simon deck. (Coyote.. Beep -Beep hull). Egg Harbor has the molds, and they are building CC's now. There are some similarities to AT's. (Don't tell that to Pat tho.. he'l never talk to me again) :)

Personally I like canopies in the right application. (My 38 Comp. is the perfect example!) However I feel the lines on your boat (more angular Cigarettesque) lend themselves more to the flip up kind of deflectors found on the older Top Guns. You could paint them to match and they would just blend right in.
