Good Luck TSPM. I think it's a pretty cool idea if it works. Not sure why all the negativity on this thread.

raffle
You should sell tickets for $100.00 to $250.00 each and advister for 30 to 60 days. They did that on here a couple years ago for a race boat. Sell more tickes and give more people a chance to win. If you don't sell enough give the money back. A !,000 is kind of steep for the average working boater.

It's a great idea and I would buy a ticket if some legal questions were more clearly answered. From personal experience I know that having a raffle for anything is difficult to accomplish legally.
"Regarding raffles Raffles contain all three elements of an illegal lottery, yet in many states they are permitted if they are conducted by nonprofit entities that use the proceeds for educational or charitable purposes. Where legal, raffles are subject to far more extensive regulations than are sweepstakes or contests of skill. An organization seeking to conduct a raffle typically must register in advance and obtain a license from the state. The license fee itself can be substantial, particularly in states where the fee is a percentage of the net proceeds generated by the raffle." This also caught my eye - not because of the poor spelling. "Affliates from Active Thunder Boats and Tri State Performance Marine are not elligable to enter." If AT isn't involved why can't someone who might be affiliated w/ them buy a raffle ticket? |
