Default Trips vs Twins burning gas ?

I know 90% of OSO boat owners have IO's,so don't know if it is diffrent with outboards, but I just boat a boat that will have 3 300xs and was wondering how much more gas will I be burning the having 2 engines?

How's alot sound I have a 30 with 3 200 mercs, stock, its not that bad, babylon ny to haverstraw ny on 75 gallons in the nyc pokerrun a few years ago,i love the tripps, and now i have a 31 with 2 250 efi's,might be worse ,i just got it in 2 weeks ago,to early to tell. i think the tripps are easier on the hull and u can run bigger props, less rpm, maybe same speed as twins wide open. thats just my thoughts,i like my tripple setup, pulls very hard midrange, but both my rigs are not simlar at all tripps

I have a 38 Fountain TE with trip 300 verados. Fountain claims that this boat is more fuel efficent with trips than it is with twins. Once, i had to run for a few miles on two and it was burning more fuel at the same speed as when we have all three running.

I have friends with trips and they burn less than my twins, I think if you run the trips conservative (same mph as you would twins) you'll see better fuel economy.

I run a 47 Lightning with triple 525 EFIs. I thpught the boat would burn much more. I dont know what it is, but it feels like the three engines are just enjoying them selves as the boat run 50 mph at only 3000 rpm. and the are not struggeling to keep the boat at that speed at all. Butof couse, 3 tanks to fill.......... Personally I would think 2 would be more economic, but when people here claim their triple runs cheaper than the twins, O am a bit confused... HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?

Those 300xs motors are extremely efficient to start with. My Dad has one on his 24 Progression and he only burned 14 gallons running at a good clip in a poker run last season. I think it was about 50-60 miles.
