Pt. Pleasant Races

I heard Vinny and Jimmy from Talking Trash (Skater) did some ass kicking in Pt. Pleasant over the weekend...

Not bad for "Poker runners"

I think there's a new sheriff in town....:party-smiley-004: :evilb:

Yes, they did win! They were in front 3/4 of the race...were passed by Reliable on the 2nd or 3rd to last lap but Reliable broke on the final lap from what I saw. JD Byrider also broke....:party-smiley-004:

Gotta finish to win, congrats on the win Jimmy, Vinny!

The first couple of laps were the best action! JD and Trash were going head to head and Trash finally got the best of them. I left to head back for Sandy Hook immediately after the race so I didn't know about the tab, so good thing Reliable broke because they earned that win! :drink:

Dee has some pics of Jimmy idling past us just after the race and screaming with the thumbs up!:ernaehrung004:

Before the race there was some hysterical trash talkin commentary on the radio between the boats as they were milling around..I wish I had a tape recorder!

Skater247 09-08-2008 12:51 PM

I was at the awards last night the way they called it was reliable took first and talkin trash took second there was some talk about the race being longer than it was supposed to be, Reliable may have run out of fuel, that may have been the issue...

Panther 09-08-2008 12:52 PM

So trash didn't get the W???

MOBILEMERCMAN 09-08-2008 01:17 PM

Are you kidding me. Looked like Reliable pulled in early. I wasn't counting laps though.

sounds like some Tomfoolery to me. Is this an example of the Golden Rule?

stainless 09-08-2008 01:24 PM

I heard reliable call out of the race on race control with engine problems

On or about the last lap, when Reliable was in the lead, they pulled off the course and radioed to race control that they had an engine go down........

But, I did hear there were some protesting because the course was longer than it was supposed to be and one team that I know of (bounty hunter) ran out of fuel and they were doing really good!

MOBILEMERCMAN 09-08-2008 01:32 PM

That sucks, but that is racing.

SHARKEY-IMAGES 09-08-2008 08:22 PM

To me, Talk n Trash are still winners. To be that competitive with a new boat and newly formed team right out of the box is just incredible ! Especially to be running up against JD Byrider, Reliable Carriers and Jay Muller in Wicked who all have years of racing under their belts..

If nothing else they gave the crowd an awesome show to watch !!!

I'm curious to see the Official results and what the explanation will be.

At what limit do they say the course is too long??? I mean, we're talking about the ocean with currents, winds etc..... If it's 1/4 - 1/2 mile longer that's kinda silly.... 10+miles ok....I see...

common fellas, put enough fuel in the boat, maybe a little extra... :(

I heard in the range of 16 miles too long....

MOBILEMERCMAN 09-09-2008 01:29 PM

So another 80 or100 pounds of fuel would have done it.

Do the winning boats need to return to port under their own power??? I was under the impression if they're towed in it's an auto DQ? If so, they also need a little extra fuel to idle back the almost 20 minutes to the haul out lift.....

I have no sword in this fight but I don't think every course is exact and most of the teams I spoke to at the last race, where the course was significantly longer, said they always have extra fuel for that reason... :drink:

I know competition is tight and everyone wants to get a little advantage but fuel management is also part of endurance racing isn't it? :food-smiley-007:

007joe 09-09-2008 03:11 PM

I was in the wet pits (for everything) but heard alot (not gospel just from talking to a few different people) i think the course was 2 miles too long. I think they do have to finish to win. I think all teams anticipated the ride out and back but didn't anticipate the length of the course. if they were just counting laps 5 laps is already ten miles. some guys ran out on the way back from what i heard
