another good guy gone, Dave "Stemen Hot"
I don't think he was a member of OSO or at least one that posted here but today our Lake Erie community and our club LEOPA lost a really good guy. Dave Stemen was just 50, he ran a Fountain called Stemen Hot and was crew chief for Konrad Fountain Of Youth. It was a surprise to all of us as he was healthy and had an awesome day at our fall poker run on Saturday. Early on Monday morning out of the blue he had a brain hemorrhage, he struggled for a while but passed away on Tuesday at 1 PM. His family made the difficult but unselfish decision to donate his organs so his spirt will live on.
Dave was one of the first people Ian and I met when joining LEOPA and as I am sure anyone that met him will agree he had the biggest grin and was always smiling. I always felt he had a chuckle that was just ready to bubble out each time you talked with him. I saw him on the run on Saturday and said a quick hello but since we had friends from outside the club with us we only spoke for a moment, how I wish I had made more time. But as you know it's easy to assume you will have more time with a family member or friend. Dave you will be missed and remembered by many, may your smile and spirit live on in those you have given the gift of life to. RIP our friend. Donna and Ian |

Dave was a man with a zest for life, and lived it to the fullest right to the end. He will be missed by all of the hearts he has touched along the way.
God Speed Dave, and watch over us, Buddy. |
Wow, way too sad... Although I did not know Dave for long, he sure was a lot of fun to hang with. I really enjoyed his company, he spent time with us at several events, Key West, St Clair and a few others and will be greatly missed by many.
Extremely sad, he was a really nice guy. Kurt |
Dave was his usual self on Saturday. All smiles. I saw him several times on the water running with another 42 Fountain side by side at 80 or so. At Portofino's we were in the bar and we could see him outside talking to two ladies. I said to my friend Ken sitting next to me "Looks like Dave's having fun". Then on Monday out of nowhere he has a hemorrhage. I'm going to miss him. But I'll have good memories from the poker run.

They passed us to port one time that is burned in memory. It was an awesome sight, like two F-15s in formation. |

That's very sad... It's amazing how fragile life is. At least it sounds like he had a great time at the run just before he passed, doing what he loved to do.
RIP :( Chris Miami Nice |
Last time I saw Dave we were laughing and having a great time watching the girls go up and down on adjustable bar stools at the summer poker run.
What a horrible shame this has happened to such a great person, RIP Dave and know we will celebrate the fun times and remember you with admiration. |

Being a new member and participant with L.E.O.P.A. this year, I didn't know Dave very well. He certainly made an impression on me, making me feel very welcome at the events, I will miss him.

Definately the hardest Funeral/Showing I have ever gone to. I was so difficult to see all the photos of Dave boating and partying with all of us. All the time making us smile!
Larry Waddle said it correct when he said "Dave had a way of making everyone feel like his best friend". That is so true and Karen and I miss him greatly. Godspeed and love always, Dan and Karen Burtscher |
Condolences to his family and we will miss him. RIP

Our condolences to Dave's entire family. We consider ourselves fortunate to have met. He was very well liked and will surely be missed.

Consider yourself lucky if you obtain a handful of REAL friends in a lifetime. I considered Dave as one of those friends. We boated together for 9+ yrs. & 1000's of miles all over Lake Erie and beyond and along the way we drank 1000's of beers together. He will be missed but the memories will never be forgotton.
Thanks for everything and RIP buddy. |
Very, very sad.....Dave was a great guy and one of the best people to hang with.....He will be missed definatly by me and others abroad.....

Sorry to hear that, 50 is way to young!
